If they can append "nationalistic" issues to a candidate that loses badly in a general election then the globalists can create the narrative that those issues are unpopular. It discredits the nationalistic issues in favor of tyranny and globalization. A two party system is not necessary as long as corporatists are in control of the administrations and the legislatures. Perennial Democratic administrations will work just fine for the globalists. A plurality of about 35% of the electorate is all they need. On the other hand, if Trump wins and somehow miraculously turns out to be a free market patriot and nascent devotee of the U.S. Constitution, the globalists will be very displeased.
