The interesting thing is if she were White and the President was Black, she would have instantly been accused of racism, and you know the mainstream media would have ran with it all the way for a touchdown.

Had a little mini red terror last night where I live around Confederate statues. Citizens had to guard statues themselves. A few that were left for police to guard got defaced.

Well, I am locked out until I do it. I don't have any pictures of myself and no close friends and family are linked to my account. It just seems strange that this would happen a few days after being at Charlottesville.

So suspiciously Facebook demands I send them a clear photo of my face, which they promise to immediately delete. The claim is suspicious activity. Is this typical?

Did you read my post about what happened? There was no chance to have a peaceful demonstration. There was no way to get to Lee Park except through Antifa and BLM.

A friend of mine was hit in the back of the head pretty badly while we were trying to evacuate. It was very reasonable to fear for your life Saturday if you were alone or in small groups.

Looks like Jason Kessler, the organiser of the rally was mobbed today trying to do a press conference around 2PM.

So any rally can be shutdown in Virginia as long as the Governor declares a state of emergency?

I'm not a WN but stuff that happened today is just going to radicalise more young people and push more of them into the WN camp. I have met several of them and I think many of them, had they been born a decade earlier, may have been libertarians. It really is becoming "us vs them" for many of these guys.

The white nationalist movement doesn't have anything in common with libertarianism, but I still support their right to speak freely under the 1st Amendment. It's scary that so many people now seem to think that committing acts of violence against white nationalists is acceptable just because they have abhorrent views.

Alright here's what I saw from being with the Alt-Right guys who were actually able to make it to the park. After 10AM we started moving towards Lee Park with several hundred people. We didn't make up everyone who attended but we had quite a force and riot shields up front. Antifa was completely blocking the stair entrance to Lee Park. The Virginia State Police were nowhere to be seen keeping anyone apart. We were able to push our way up to the rally point. Many people got spat on and maced and pepper sprayed in the face trying to enter the park by Antifa, including at least one camera man (from Infowars I think) Dozens of people were treated by medics in the groups to counteract the sprays. With that stuff in your eyes and nose you are pretty much helpless. Our guys were pretty much attacked the entire way up. As a side note, we were told there was an anti mask law in Virginia and that anyone wearing gas masks would be arrested so not everyone was equipped for the Antifa attacks. Of course many Antifa were seen wearing masks and I didn't see any arrested. Once we got into Lee Park it became more apparent that they may not let the rally take place. Most of the park was barricaded and the people attending the rally were forced to stay pretty close to Antifa. Lee's statue was behind the barricade so we couldn't really get that close to it. Interestingly enough, almost all the State Police were positioned not in between Antifa and the rally, but behind the Alt-right guys. While we had our own people blocking the entrance and keeping Antifa from coming up once we got in position, they pretty much continued to attack the entire time. They had homemade concoctions of some kind that they kept hurling at people up front. They threw rocks, urine, bottles and I think some sort of tear gas at us. A few times it was hard to breathe. I was told one guy got pulled into the Antifa crowd by several people and beaten pretty badly. This entire time the police just watched, mostly from behind us. After we made it to the park I'm not sure if any smaller groups were able to make it in. I spoke with a couple fellows who arrived late and had small numbers and were attacked by Antifa and they never made it to the rally spot. At some, I believe Antifa starting hurling some kind of tear gas and all the Virginia State police started backing up even further than they already were and sometime after 11:00 the Virginia State Police (who were still behind us) got on the bull horn and said it had been declared an "unlawful assembly" and we had 10 minutes to leave the park or be arrested. Well, then they finally started to go into action. They formed a long line behind us with riot shields and started inching towards us, forcing us towards the Antifa who were still attacking people. (So to stop this "violence" they were forcing us into the people committing violence?) At this point I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I know their barricades were knocked down because we had to get out of the park another way. I don't know how many people had to go down through Antifa as the groups all became fragmented at this point with the police pushing in with nowhere to go. We were unable to walk back to parking so I think most people had to be picked up from a different location. It appeared that Antifa was allowed to stay but they forced us out.

I'm planning on looking into that and then listing specific spending cuts on my campaign website. There's some higher up guys in Kansas who work at various conservative and libertarian think tank organizations that I was going to consult about that.

Yeah, or propose a bill defunding the Supreme Court until they stop forcing the legislature to increase education spending by specific amounts.

In Kansas the Kansas Supreme Court consistently forces the Kansas legislature to spend more money on education. It's a battle to simply slow the rate of growth of education spending in our state. It's never cut. It's impossible to cut it when the Kansas Supreme Court forces the legislature to increase education spending by large amounts.

I think I would mostly focus on getting rid of waste within public schools and doing things more efficiently. Because I can see quite a bit of waste that goes on within the public school in my town.

If I decide to run, I was planning on putting on my website that I support preserving religious liberty for people of all faiths. Also, it's hard to run for office as a hardcore libertarian and actually win. If you think you can do it, then you should try. In some ways my district is the exact opposite of libertarian. My district is culturally conservative but strongly supports things like public schools. So my views will have to be watered down to some extent to have any chance to win, just like the campaigns that Rand Paul ran. I'm just trying to be honest with you. I just posted this thread to try to gauge support for my campaign if I choose to run, but you may not want to donate money to my campaign if you expect me to run as a hardcore libertarian. That isn't really politically possible. My platform will be similar to what I posted in post #9, sort of mainstream libertarianism or conservative libertarianism but not what people in my district would consider to be "extreme positions."

Yeah, I understand in theory that a restaurant owner should have the right to refuse service to anyone he wants to for any reason. But, I live in a religious area, so it's beneficial politically to frame the issue by using the term religious liberty.

I'm opposed to all tax increases and fee increases, opposed to all restrictions on gun ownership, support cutting spending, support reducing regulations, support preserving religious liberty, would push for ending civil asset forfeiture, would push for ending no knock raids of people's homes, would push for legalizing hemp and medical marijuana, etc.

I'm just posting a poll to try to gauge people's support if I were to run for state representative. I live in Kansas where they just passed a massive 1.2 billion tax increase. My representative is a liberal Republican who voted for that tax increase. He and all of the other big government Republicans in Kansas need to be replaced in the next election. I know that in the past people on this forum have had plenty of disagreements with me, and I'm seen as one of the more "moderate" members of the forum. But, I just thought I would ask anyway and see if anyone would be willing to donate money to my campaign for state representative if I choose to run. (Even if it's only a small amount)

Regarding the whole "only the radical libertarians" will enter the gate, a similar thing was brought up at Eric Peters Autos:

"David" is my username. Moleman is coming close to arguing the position that only libertarians are Christians.

    Just an FYI:

    1. My answer to my own poll question is probably "yes", though its an exceedingly reluctant "yes."

    2. The more reluctant someone is, the less quick I'm going to be to judge them. You, frankly, are not the type of person I was considering when I made my OP, even if you techncially qualify. You're against legal torture and you agree that its almost always wrong. There are a lot of people who support legal torture and who think at least some of what was in the Senate Report was morally permissible (At least at my school there are, admittedly, my school is pretty "conservative"). I much more had in mind the neoconservative who says "torture is always justified against terrorists if there's a chance to save even one life" than I am a generally peaceful person that reluctantly says they could justify torturing someone if it meant saving their family, or something like that.

OK, so in that situation you're almost dealing with Hiroshima and Nagisaki again (not as it actually occured, but what most people think of it as.) Fair enough...

Still distressing.... I'm not sure what that says of those people who actually think these were all ticking time bomb situations.

Do you think it would ever be moral to let someone die of hypothermia in a cold cell? Do you ever think it would ever be moral to break someone's legs and force them to stand for hours or days? Do you ever think it would be moral to consecutively waterboard someone 183 times?

Is your only issue with this the potential for abuse, or do you understand that there is something deeply immoral about this?

There's something sickening and inhumane about about what was described in the CIA report. Killing someone in self-defense when they are trying to shoot you isn't comparable to that.
  7. View Conversation
Sorta, but there are plenty of people here who think it should be legal. So, where's the line where the form of torture becomes inhumane no matter what?
  8. View Conversation
TC, I apologize for the neg rep. I was in a really bad mood today, both from seeing the CIA report and seeing people here at school defend it. I took it out on you. I deserved the neg rep you threw back. Sorry...
