I'm no English major, but I don't think you're supposed to use a plural form "they" to refer to the singular "he" or "she". People do it all the time. Oh, she they does mention that. And they doesn't seem to care. Now I'm picturing everyone in the California state legislature talking like a character in an Uncle Remus story.

"PayPal is offering an interest-free cash advance up to $500, the equivalent of one week’s take home." WTF government job pays so little? Cleaning up after the janitor?

He's certainly got people talking. Talking about things that they didn't really care about on such a scale before, like finally bringing our troops home, or why the fk alphabet agencies are conducting politically-motivated witch hunts, or is the only good thing on CNN the commercial breaks? Trump is short term. Presidents, in general are short term. What we're gonna be left with are the impressions and the provocation caused during this presidency, which is what REALLY matters. People with TDS are wasting their time bitching because in 2-6 years Trump's gone. People who see Trump as some savior are wasting their time because in 2-6 years he's gone. We should probably be doing more of what Rand seems to be doing, which is using the opportunity to drive home HARD the issues that will linger in people's minds after a president's 4 year term. And honestly I think Rand would do well to stack his soap box a bit higher and do a bit more talking. Talking about 'waiting for the perfect time to leave Syria means we'll be there forever' is EXACTLY the sh1t we need to be spamming the airwaves with right now. Otherwise we're gonna sit here and mope about while the neocons find an opening to refill heads with their nonsense, and any opportunity Trump might have bought us, intentionally or not, will have been squandered.

If I were Trump, I'd keep the shutdown going until those workers give up and rejoin the private sector. Then when people realize they don't really miss all that government, I'd cut it. Democrats won't be able to fearmonger anymore and dangle that carrot over people since the people themselves will have given up on having all that extra government. The most dangerous thing for the democrats is that people realize we don't really need all that government. Kind of like how declaring 'we'll all starve if we lose food stamps' doesn't work too well on people who have actually found meaningful work and no longer need them. Trump has already kicked that leg off from under their chair.

I wonder how many of these teachers who shut down LA's education system are also mad at Trump for his "shut down". I'm certain the longer the teacher strikes go on, the better off those kids will be.

I think people are just upset government is shut down because the media tells them to be upset. If they just turned off their TVs, the vast majority of them would suddenly realize that NOTHING in their daily life has changed.

I'm kind of envious of other men who have epic beards. It's been my experience that people respect you more when you have a well trimmed beard. One nurse I worked with, totally in violation of dress code, had a beard that made him look like General Stonewall Jackson. You'd better damn believe that when he spoke, people listened. Shaggy beards won't do it though. Just makes you look like a hobo. Still even that is a step up from clean-shaven. No one listens to a baby.

I hate to pick at someone's looks but this chick is gonna be ugly as fk when she gets older. She already looks like she's aged 10 years since she took office. And she really needs someone to coach her on her smiles. Turn it down about 50% at least.

No one teaches their kids how to budget anymore. I remember in 2nd grade we did an activity to teach us the difference in needs versus wants. Guess that's been cut out of the curriculum. And why the hell is she applying for food stamps? Most places I know send your application to the top of the stack if you have military service in your past. I'm assuming she didn't even try to find another job.

I'd give folks a choice. If they don't want the wall then they must take personal responsibility for enforcing the border along their property. That or, give out MapQuest directions to the homes of every libertarian here who makes the claim that they have the right to invite whoever they want onto their property. We'll see which option is more practical.

Well, good news is food stamp usage is down thanks to 'all those jobs that were never coming back.' The carrots that the democrats used to dangle over their voter base are becoming less effective each passing day.

I've noticed a shift in foreign policy sentiment. You're talking about the people right? not the politicians? Yeah there's been a change. And we can sit here and debate things like whether or not people such as Tucker Carlson are sincere when they give those monologues on-air criticizing the absurdity of our foreign policy, but when it gets down to it, if he's saying it— and people are listening to it— that can't be all bad. Public opinion is a fragile thing, though. All it takes is a false flag to send everyone running for the war drums.

I remember when Adam Kokesh was running for office, he always used the line: 'You don't do government? Okay, government will do you.'

Same here. I help where I can, when I can. But I'm not ambitious enough offer to hold Earth for Atlas so to take some of the strain off his shoulders. I've seen open-borders advocates here claim that we can support this influx of new people with needs. I've always thought that a bit naïve, but whatever. Nothing is stopping them from starting up GoFundMe's for medical care for these folks, if they feel that strongly about it. Hell there's a damned Go-Fund-Me for the wall. Up to $17 million in 11 days. One could argue that the republicans are making the libertarians look bad. Put your money where your mouths are. Then you can try your best to shame folks.

It really is a shame . . . . . . . .that whoever funded the caravan and helped give them rides to the US border didn't think to also provide them with medical care early on when it might have done some good.

I know what their goal is, but I'm not sure how to stop it. Regardless of how we get there (through government or private companies, or worse, a tag-teaming cooperation between the two), eventually there will be no dissenting voices. That's ultimately where we're headed. You all can argue about government/private and free market/regulatory morals but eventually, there will be no dissent allowed. That's the goal. The internet has had a good run, when it was relatively new and rapidly expanding, and neither government nor the major corporations knew how to control it nor move fast enough to control it. It was seen as an alternative to approved cable TV information distribution. But that noose is tightening. I have little faith in technological innovation to outrun the leviathan. If anything, I see old-fashioned paper fliers pasted on brick walls of back alleyways as a "future" means of distributing free thought. What good is demonetization or youtube channel bans against a carrier pigeon? Merry by the way.

You said, "different from the E.U." but, you pretty much just described the E.U., minus the 'ending socialism' bit. I don't think there will be any multi-national federation if socialism falls in Europe. The whole point of the E.U. was to promote socialism, to give economically weaker nations the power to vote themselves money from the stronger ones.
