Donald Trump Calls For Abolition Of Dept. Of Education

In his recent address to the National Religious Broadcasters’ International Christian Media convention, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced his intention to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education. “We’re going to end the so-called Department of Education. We might have one desk, one person, just to make sure everyone is speaking English,” Trump announced during his keynote speech.

Much of the controversy stems from the Department of Education’s plan to issue a new policy that redefines sex to include “gender identity.” Such a change would give a boost to controversial initiatives to allow children to change their gender without parental permission.

Never mind that Rick Perry of all people was three times as good, or would have been if he could remember to.

I'm going to tread on your delicate state of denial again. Trump has failed to keep campaign promises before. Combine that with the fact that he could have done this already, and didn't make the first step toward doing it, and not everyone can share your childlike faith that he would ever do it in real life.

It is going to take Congress to do it.
Ron Paul couldn't have done it, let alone all the other departments, with the Congress Trump had.
Trump has called for this kind of thing before.

I don't believe you. The ED is an executive branch agency and President Ron Paul could and would have pulled every tooth in its empty head, because he has two things Trump lacks: Principle and balls.

All Trump has, and all you have for him, is lame excuses. And nothing better illustrates the derangement over Trump than a big, fat headline that says, "Trump's Gonna!!" followed by, "He didn't before because he couldn't!" Then how's he going to do better this time if he thinks he can't? Well?

If he couldn't before, how is he going to now? Come on, Super Salesman. Sell it.

Massie has introduced a bill to end the Department of Education every year since he's been in Congress. Trump has had PLENTY of opportunities to support it and get others to support it. But he didn't. He won't. And this is election year talk.

Inconvenient that Trump now has a record to run on, isn't it?

Oh and @dannno, don't look now, but women have traditionally had a bigger appetite for empty promises and pretty little lies than men have.

Why didn't he push for this the last time he was President?

Appointing DeVos was a good step in the right direction, but why not push to end it?

I think he got too busy meeting with Bill Gates and Moncef Slaoui more than several times, to start up that new Federal Agency "Operation Warp Speed".

I'm sure that Cares Act took time out of his schedule too. You know, the one that gave the Pharm Complex Billions of tax dollars, which is why he threatened Tom Massie to get it done in a hurry.

    And golf.

It was Reagan who first called for the DOE to be abolished.

42 $#@!ing years ago...and how many times over the course of over four decades did the GOP hold all branches of the FedGov in order to do this?

Congress created and funds the DoE and much of the rest of the bureaucracy, POTUS would not be allowed to end them by decree.

Trump is going to have a much better Congress this time.

What part of I don't believe you did you not understand? I prefer to listen to people who know what they're talking about.

I don't know what hat time you're talking about, but out of the 535 people in the two houses, not very many have changed since 2020. Got any more unicorn sightings to report?

Nice deceptively edited quote you have there.
Even more will change this election and the next, but more than usual have changed already, including some important ones.

There is no "hat" in my post, you added it to the quote in a pitiful attempt to try to make me look stupid.
