The Fed quietly redefined money supply measurements

Not only did they quietly redefine the measurements, they also changed it retroactively for most of the coronahoax era of 2020. Also eliminating or delaying various metric reports.

"We have set them on the hobby-horse of an idea about the absorption of individuality by the symbolic unit of COLLECTIVISM. They have never yet and they never will have the sense to reflect that this hobby-horse is a manifest violation of the most important law of nature, which has established from the very creation of the world one unit unlike another and precisely for the purpose of instituting individuality."- A Quote From Some Old Book

Yeah, that's one reason I only look at the monetary base or the fed balance sheet (not sure the difference). It's hard to fudge that. And besides that the monetary base is a better leading indicator than M1, M2, etc. If the base goes up those other metrics will eventually go up. So the base is a much better indicator of coming price inflation.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around digital, everything tracked, inventoried, will PM's hold long?

I was always a believer that if you don't hold it, you don't own it. But who would deal with PM's after everything goes upstream?

Expect the new digital junk paradigm to be backed, at least in part, by gold again. One of the primary reasons to hold metals is to maintain value during periods just like now, when the fiat is being destroyed, so the metals can later be converted back into whatever is introduced as the new "coin of the realm". The goal isn't to die with a super heavy casket
