This move in gold is largely in anticipation of the Fed being done with rate hikes and possibly cutting rates in 2024. If they actually do cut rates next year (I don't think they will - I think the markets are just Jonesing for the next hit of Fed crack), gold will really take off.
I saw a few days ago where Goldman Sachs put out a forecast for gold to hit $2,050 by end of 2024. Lol. It's going to start the year higher than that.

In the company’s earnings call on Thursday, CFO Richard Galanti said that Costco sold $100 million in one-ounce gold bars between July and September.
According to media reports, during the call Galanti was asked what consumer trends Costco was seeing this holiday season; he answered: "They're buying gold."
In 2020, Costco started selling gold to its U.K. members and added it to North American stores earlier this year. Members are limited to two bars from the same supplier each and according to Galanti, the gold sells out in hours.

Maybe 2330 for eclipse , LOL, in 2015 gold was a little over 1k ( 1050.80). 121 percent over 9 yrs not too bad, nearly 13 1/2 avg , keeping up w/ inflation finally

Looks like gold is going to close out the week near $2,400. It's still looking strong even with the dollar index rising.

Seems like markets know SHTF is soon. The DXY is mostly just a measure of supply and demand for the dollar. Lots of demand for dollars in order to convert (dump) them into hard assets like metals and real estate. Seeing them both rise quickly simultaneously is a really bad sign.
The friday slam down of metals was entirely because of SLV and GLD going too high for Citadel's max pain options prices to handle. Citadel would have started a gamma squeeze on GLD and SLV if metals kept rising. The rise should resume this coming week and I wouldn't be surprised to see a +$100 on gold and +$2 on silver day to make up for the artificial slam down friday.

Gold closed the week at $2,434.73 at the SGE (China) - roughly $90 higher than spot through US trading hours. Now er got escalation in the middle east (Iran/Israel). That's a lot of rocket fuel for gold I would think.
