    Assuming enough people sign up in advance, Jasper County Republicans are planning to hold presidential straw polls at locations in Carthage and Joplin on Friday to help local GOP members become more informed about the plethora of candidates for the White House.
    Carthage

    Putnam said he and other Republicans would decide late Wednesday if they have enough people to hold separate caucuses in Carthage and Joplin, or if they need to combine the two events into one.

    As of 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, eight people had signed up for the Carthage caucus and 11 for the Joplin caucus. Putnam said up to 50 people can be accommodated at each location.
