I really hate Reddit's format. I am a usenet veteran - I understand how threads are supposed to work, but I never can seem to get Reddit's to display correctly.
This is a great lesson in talking points. The progressives won't be swayed by logic. Their entire philosophy is based on the total control of everything.
But I think Reddit is a tough but young crowd. You can tell by the scoring where Matt got his point across effectively, and where he did not. Here is one he did not:

I like the First Amendment and I think unfettered political speech is the best protection against tyranny. The current system favors all of the lobbyists that feed off their relations (and expected favors) with incumbents for life. We need to break up the cartel.

How would you do that? Because your "unfettered political speech" sounds to me like "allow lobbyists to give as much money as they want to whichever politician will get them the best result."
