    Remington® 300 Win Whitetail Pro® Model 770 Rifle/Scope Combo

    http://www.basspro.com/Remington-300...duct/10218381/

The Remington Whitetail Pro Model 770 Rifle/Scope Combo is the perfect instant gratification choice for any hunter itching to load his new gun and start shooting. Fast forward through the sometimes exhausting process of selecting, mounting, and sighting a scope and components, Whitetail Pro rifles comes with a pre-mounted and boresighted 3-9x40mm riflescope. Built to Remington's rigorous standards for accuracy and reliability, the Whitetail Pro continues the legacy of Remington's popular 700 and 710 models with modern advancements for even more accuracy and reliability. The ergonomically contoured Realtree AP HD synthetic stock features a raised cheekpiece for rapid scope to eye alignment and grip texture in all the right places. With its 22 Inch' six-groove button-rifled barrel, solid steel receiver, and crisp, single-stage trigger, this rifle is ready to punch tight groups in any target. The Whitetail Pro delivers superior action strength by combining a ''three rings of steel'' design with three locking lugs that secure the ultra-smooth bolt directly into the barrel. The short, 60º bolt throw with an easier-to-cam design delivers faster follow-up shots. Finally, the detachable, dual-stack steel box magazine features a more durable latch for longer life.
Thinking about selling my 270 and getting something with more punch. Thought about this one at Basspro for $349.99. Anyone have any experience with these particular rifles? Pros, cons?

Are your consistently shooting 2MOA at 400 m? IMHO the whole magnum caliber issue is way over played. After a person has become a crack shot with the less expensive .308 or .30-06, then buy up. Start looking at the higher powered cartridges where cost per round and bore life are a investment to continue pushing your envelope.

Then again I don't know your situation. Good luck!

If your planning on hunting Elk it may give you an edge.

While your looking check out the Remington 700 action in .308. I'm not sure exactly what 700 action model it is but people have built bench-rest rifles on at least one of the 700 actions.

The 770 sounds close so it may be a good choice but I would still read up on the differences.

For some of us the more accurate, the more fun it is to target shoot. Giving up some accuracy for something more suitable for bigger game or bigger country like Alaska can make the trade off a good option and still be a lot of fun.

P.S. Don't let the secret out that it does look like a super deal. 300 bucks is about like 15 silver dollars. That is the sort of prices for guns you would see in the old antique Sears and Roebuck catalogs.

Then again that could be part of the reason for the shortages in the stores. Maybe the secret IS out.

Anyone have a Thompson Center Venture? If so do you like it? I am starting to shy away from the Rem model 770.
