Hiroshima and Nagasaki were military targets. Conventional bombing of these targets would have led to just as many if not more casualties. The imperial palace was in Tokyo, so you are suggesting bomb Tokyo and kill the emperor that the Japanese people revered as a God. You think killing their God would make it more likely or less likely for them to surrender????? Not true. 100% of democrats, 210 Dems voted yes, which means less than 7 republicans were needed to pass the bill. Ultimately 101 republicans voted yes, 112 voted no, so a majority voted no. I think Trumps influence clearly helped the republican majority to vote no and more voted no than we've seen previously.

A veto proof majority of Congress passed the bill. Show me a single representative that changed their vote from no to yes based on the alleged "support" from Trump. You can't, they all wanted it already. Trump has been consistent in calling for peace and the end of the war as soon as possible which would entail concessions with Russia. Any suggestions, like in the OP, that Trump could have stopped the bill if he had just come out harder against it, is just ridiculous fiction.

Schumer had the audacity to talk about having a trial on these charges would be a bad precedent.... Bitch this is the first impeachment not to go to trial in our history, i.e. unprecedented! How is it even allowed in our constitution that the Senate can just dismiss the impeachment, even with just a simple majority... should be 2/3rds to dismiss or higher.
