Well I assume that since the people could be armed with ARs at this park in CO..then the Cops having those rifles is justified. My sense is that this is just the beginning and we'll see all-out riots and burning buildings fairly soon...somewhere.

Very hostile crowd. I thought I was paying attention but I didn't see any pepper spray. I did see a few protestors attack the police though.

Word of advice, please don't assault the police.

Those rifles are probably loaded with less than lethal rounds. Look at the size of the magazine and barrel. Also, notice the buttstock is orange in color.

Don't let the rabble rousers kickstart the martial law countdown.
If this OWS crap blows over we can weather this situation out.
Who says we have to follow their doomsday plan?
A violent revolution will not serve the people well, in this case the
time to revolt passed us by when the government out gunned the people.
While it is true there are many millions of Americans armed to the teeth.
They are not as organized as the Government, they have the ability to focus
their power in hot spots, the people don't have the same ability.
    Remember humans are people too.

I think they have pepper spray rounds, which is how they were pepper spraying them. The round is like a paintball, but instead it has tear gas or something similar in it.

I don't think they'd deploy that without gas masks for themselves. It's probably rubber bullets.

The bullets, which are filled with pepper spray, resemble the projectiles fired from paint-ball guns.

And can be deadly at close quarters.

This was a story from 2004 where cops in Boston tried to clear the streets after some sort of baseball nonsense.

They walked up, shot this girl, who was doing nothing wrong, in the face, twice, and killed her.

These people are going to bring on the whole police state. Also, it looks very odd that, as one person confronts an officer, 12 people gather around with camera phones.

Agreed. Now, as for the jackboots...give 'em hell. They have no jurisdiction. In fact most police departments are private businesses. NC just told all it cops to get their houses and cars out of their name as a case determined exactly that they were NOT guvmnt but private.

All the police/FED jackboots now hide behind masks... all cops told not to wear their uniforms from home and don't tell neighbors you work for the police state. All the plans are in place right out the DHS *classified* handbook... CIA, CFR, etc do the same analysis when they move in on a government or country or people.

Internet kill switch, EAS kill switches... every citizen and square inch of land has already been recorded for a slew of contingency 'emergency' plans. Like I have advised many here before... watch-out, this government operates on the state of paranoia, they trust no one and will give up any American citizen and their lives, to keep themselves in complete control. All their plans are very well polished and extensively contrived to fit a multitude of scenarios, that are most likely to come... soon.

    exsqueeze me ??

The Police State has been in existence for some years. It has been growing,, and out of control for the last decade.

These people are not going to "bring it on",, they are confronting it.
    God bless them all.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Hell no. These people initiated violence on the police, from what I can tell. That's not the right way to behave. They should not be defended. They're a bunch of socialists getting into a bunch of trouble. How many tea party protests have turned out like this?

Well first off the Tea Party never "protested" anything.
They had rallies and events,,, and most of the Neo-cons are Police State loving bootlickers.
They love the Patriot Act and increased "security" and war.

However Ron Paul supporters have been arrested and harassed.

Nope,, but I have been following it from long before Adbusters got involved. Long before the media started to notice and cherry picking idiots to focus on.
    From even before this,,

This is what the Media is trying to obscure.

And yes, some of the folks come from the progressive side, but are identifying the problems.

There are two factions to OWS from what I can tell: the Michael Moore-loving "progressives", and the left-"anarchists", who recognize that gubmint interference in the economy is precisely what led to Wall Street and corporations' strangleholds on the economy. Of COURSE the Michael Moore people are idiots, because they're proposing the very thing they're rallying against as the solution. We all know this. I think what pcosmar is saying is that this wing has taken over OWS, much like the establishment right has taken over the Tea Party.

I don't know why people here keep trying to paint these people as disaffected socialists who all love big-government solutions. Believe it or not, not every socialist apologizes for big government. Of course there are going to be idiots there, but it hardly typifies the whole movement. As for the violence against the police, I wouldn't advocate it at all, but we can see the principles of "blowback" in action here, if you ask me.

Not quite. There are two "wings" though.
Those that want to change the system, and those that want to maintain the Status Quo.
The same two wings exist on the "right".

I saw he anger building in this country a while back. The Ron Paul revolution was a result of that, and the first Tea Parties,, but it was quickly neutered and the Tea party co-opted.
    The same is happening here.
The Same problems Identified, and the same divide and conquer tactics.

TPTB do not want a bunch of Angry Americans focused on the Federal Reserve and Global bankers. So the salt the crowd with some loud radical Marxists and rebels without a clue,, focus on them and keep the "right" wing folks away with Media stories.

God forbid that both sides realize they have the same enemy.

I maintain the position that, if these people initiated violence on the police, then they should not be commended in any way. You say they should. If they initiated violence, then I strongly disagree.

Isn't this what SWAT does to peaceful people, except SWAT assaults and cages them?

It seems just to confine those who are violent (SWAT).

The winter weather will tell, but we could be getting to the point that it does not matter what we do, our desires will be overcome by events.
Out of every one hundred men they send us, ten should not even be here. Eighty will do nothing but serve as targets for the enemy. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, upon them depends our success in battle. But one, ah the one, he is a real warrior, and he will bring the others back from battle alive.

Duty is the most sublime word in the English language. Do your duty in all things. You can not do more than your duty. You should never wish to do less than your duty.
