On the front page. Socialist crap like this is voted up all the time. We need more libertarians to intelligently counter this crap. We need to start now if we want it to be a friendly place for 2012.

Sometimes your efforts are better spent not trying to teach lemurs calculus.

Taxes, and the graduated rate at which they apply, should be one of the last things libertarians go after: they must first stop the govt spending. The lesson that without government there would be no class warfare between the rich and the poor is lost on these people because they all expect to receive things from the dirty hands of govt. Rich and poor alike whine about what they have to pay, and instead of fighting the thief, they suggest the thief should just steal more from other groups.

Let the infants wear themselves out by running around pointing fingers at each other. The bigger fight is getting alternatives to govt services set up so that when the time comes, we can flip the switch to turn out the state without depriving anyone of their expected cushions.

i'm middle class. I'm single, but i live with my gf/soon-to-be-fiance. She is underemployed, an elementary school teacher with a master's who cannot find a teaching position, with threats to cut up to 1200 local teachers jobs locally due to budget shortfalls. I read that as tax shortfalls. Which i
take to mean that we aren't paying enough taxes to fund things as basic as education.

So $#@! yeah, let's all pay a little more. If it keeps people employed, and more importantly to me, improves education in the US, than I'm on board.
    lol

[MRoCkEd] (0 Points) If you want to pay more, send in your check. Please leave me alone.

Sigh. It is hard. I still go to left-leaning forums, and am so encouraged by the outrage among them re: the tsa crap, the escalating erosion of civil liberties under obama, the fact that he is escalating the afghan war, and so on. But stuff like this, i just don't understand, how can i help them see that paying more taxes funds the very things they hate?

    Done. For whatever it's worth.

What really got the Donkey off my back when I was growing up was seeing that the actual politicians that were Democrats in my state and federal governments were as bad as the Republicans when it came to corporate entanglements.

The Democratic politicians are rich, well connected, industry-insiders - everything the typical liberal derides the Republicans for being. If these Democrats were serious about wealth redistribution and about not letting big business run Washington why aren't they disowning their vast fortunes and telling lobbyists to go pleasure themselves?

The Politicians are just playing the game - if they see that they can be elected in a "blue" district, they adopt the blue rhetoric. If their political future depends on a red district, they have red rhetoric. Getting those who distrust "big business" to see that both sides are equally in the pockets of these despicable rent-seekers isn't that hard of a task.

Getting them to the point of disavowing taxes altogether takes a little more work - but exposing their political leaders as hypocritical sociopaths is the necessary and easy first step.

VERY insightful post. As far as I'm concerned, this says it all.
"When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system's game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight, because once they've got you violent then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don't know how to handle is non-violence and humor. "

whats really painful about reddit, its that's the first place I ever heard of Ron. I made many posts on that site defending Paul. Too many socialists and kids on that site. I wanted to be the voice of reason, but it was terribly painful. and I rarely give up.
