I certainly don't trust everything the government says. I served in Vietnam, and I remember the lies that came out of the Defense Department (may Robert MacNamara be rotting in hell), but I have a lot less trust with those who see a massive conspiracy involving not only government and the MSM but non-governmental health experts and doctors. Is a family doctor who recommends his patients get vaccinated a member of a conspiracy, a pathetic dupe of Big Pharma, or is he a concerned physician who is trying to give the best advice? The vaccines won't always prevent infections, but the data show they help prevent serious illness and deaths. Or do you disagree that the vast majority of COVID patients in hospitals are unvaccinated? If the government is deliberately spreading false information regarding the virus and the best ways to deal with it, what possible reason would it have to do so? Is it so the vaccines can turn people into zombies who are programmed to obey anything the government says, or some other such rot?

I believe that it helps prevent my spreading the virus to others and reduces the chance of my getting the virus from others. At my age I'm not willing to risk my life or the lives of my family by believing the CDC and others are part of a mass conspiracy that includes state and local governments all over the world that don't agree on most anything else.

I see there's a reading comprehension problem on this site. I said IF people start dropping like flies, not that they actually are. Can you not envision a doomsday scenario that just might change your mind and burst your conspiracy-theory bubble? I don't know of anyone who was hospitalized for bubonic plague, nor do I think that anyone I know does either. So what? Are you suggesting that all of the hospitals shown on the news with full COVID wards are just movie sets and all of the folks on respirators and their doctors are actors? Are pictures of mass graves in Brazil and India fake? Did Kubrick film the moon landing?

I'm against the government forcing the churches to close, especially it allows other crowded places to operate. But if the pastor wants to close it, he should be able to. If the congregants overrule him and reopen the church, it's their funeral. If enough of them die of COVID the gene pool will certainly be improved. I think it's extremely foolish to go maskless if you're unvaccinated, but I don't think the government should mandate masks YET. If people start dropping like flies due to the Delta or some future variant, I might reconsider.

You never asked these questions; you simply claimed that I held these views, thereby proving you're as clueless as ever. Why are you so interested in my views?

Maybe because the YouTube algorithms can't distinguish between videos that expose extremist views and those that promote them. Apparently the video was posted by a group that monitors right-wing disinformation. https://www.citywatchla.com/index.php/cw/intelligence-report/21981-god-bless-america-land-that-i-love-crackpots-rejoice-when-jesus-christ-briefly-shuts-down-right-wing-watch-and-can-we-get-an-amen I had never heard of Locke, so I looked him up. It's quite apparent he's an ignorant asshole who thinks the pandemic is fake and the Delta variant is nonsense. https://fox17.com/news/local/middle-tennessee-pastor-calls-delta-variant-nonsense-will-turn-away-people-who-wear-masks-covid-19-coronavirus-greg-locke-vanderbilt-hospital-doctor-vaccination-misinformation He ought to walk through a Covid ward (without any protective equipment, of course) and lay hands on the patients. He'll soon find out if Covid is fake. Apparently the death of one of his congregants from Covid didn't make a dent in his cement-for-brain outlook. This guy doesn't need YouTube videos to make him look bad. All he has to do is open his yap and make inane claims such as members of the Biden Administration are operating "child-trafficking tunnels" under the White House and that God Himself is coming to D.C. to cleanse it of pedophilia. https://www.newsweek.com/pastor-greg-locke-says-biden-demon-possessed-insists-trump-legitimate-president-1604528 He almost makes the folks at the Westboro Baptist Church look good.

It's one thing to oppose governments forcing churches to close if congregants don't wear masks. It's quite another to expel congregants who choose to wear masks. Seems to me the pastor should have more respect for those members of his flock who want to mask.

But did the robber call her "Senator"? After all, she worked so hard to get the title.

A somewhat similar objection was made by federal judges who claimed that their salaries couldn't be taxed because of the provision in Article III of the Constitution that says the compensation of a federal judge can't be diminished during his continuance in office. Although the Supreme Court initially upheld this objection, it later reversed itself and held that the no-diminishment provision didn't prevent taxing the judges' compensation. See O'Malley v. Woodrough, 307 U.S. 277 (1939). If it's OK to withhold tax from congressmen's paychecks (and it is), why is it not OK to withhold a fine?

It will be interesting to see how the Constitution applies to this matter: It would seem that the rule (which now applies only to the unvaccinated) might be authorized if a majority of the representatives adopted it or if the Speaker had been delegated the authority to make such a rule.

Lying is a very serious matter. Unless you're a Trump crony, of course, in which case you get a pardon (Flynn, Papadopoulos, Stone, Manafort). Or unless you're a former campaign manager for Ron and Rand Paul (Jesse Benton). Senator Paul wants people who lie to Congress to be prosecuted. He should also be concerned about people who lie in Congress. Of course, if everyone who lied in Congress were sent to jail the House and Senate chambers would be empty.

Interesting. The lead attorney, Lowell H. Becraft, Jr., is known for representing tax protesters and has been personally sanctioned by the courts in the past for repeating his clients' baseless arguments. See, e.g., https://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/885/547/144356/ While his past abuses don't necessarily mean that the allegations in the petition are groundless, they do cast serious doubt on his credibility. And speaking of credibility, the lead plaintiff's credibility is dubious as well and should be taken with several grains of salt, if not an entire block: See also https://gizmodo.com/pro-trump-group-files-motion-against-fda-to-stop-covid-1847325556

I believe you missed the $400+ million in debt that Trump personally guaranteed that will become due in the next 3-4 years. And the New York investigation of his companies for tax fraud. Little things like that.

We have long had death and taxes as the two standards of inevitability. But there are those who believe that death is the preferable of the two. "At least," as one man said, "there's one advantage about death; it doesn't get worse every time Congress meets."
