This will not slow or reverse radicalization. It will drive more people towards radicalization and entrench those who are already there more deeply. This is obvious enough to me that it makes me wonder if that's the actual point.

Yep- but the posters you always insult are not the ones. How about those who post nothing but hate & insults & sometimes up to 40 posts a day, driving good members from the site?

I not only don't know you're right, I think your idea is ludicrous on every level. Who could possibly benefit from paying anyone to post here? Unless it's spam with a link where maybe they get pennies every time someone follows the link. Are the Illuminati worried about Ron Paul running for president again in 2024, and they think they can shut him down by throwing cold water on the two dozen people who still frequent this site?

How long is your list of people you think are getting paid by someone to post here? It seems like pretty much every time you disagree with someone about something that's the reason. Nobody could possibly have a different viewpoint than you unless they have some ulterior profit motive. And if they do post something you disagree with, that's going to ruin this website. Because the success of an internet forum depends on the total unanimity of its posters on the issues discussed. Heaven forfend you actually have to back up your viewpoint with reasons aimed at convincing those who don't already share it.

I always find it odd when you say things like this about posts like that one that are entirely supportive of the principles this website stands for. Who do you think is paying him to say those things? Ron Paul himself?

I get that protectionists think this way. But that doesn't make it any better. Other countries having protectionist policies is never an excuse to support America having them too. It doesn't matter if there's a level playing field. Protectionism is always bad.

The point wasn't to compare Trump to anyone else. The point was that protectionism is always bad and that the Jones Act should not just get temporarily lifted, but repealed altogether. Defending protectionism because it ostensibly puts America first is misguided. Protectionism doesn't help America. It hurts us. As for Trump, whereas a lot of people here (including you, if I'm reading you right) see his "America first" protectionism as a selling point, Ron Paul's view is in line with the view of Reason Magazine that you criticized, that this is one of Trump's most serious problems.

I don't think this is accurate. There is constant arguing of right libertarians among themselves about immigration, with the majority of them being against state restriction of immigration, and a vocal minority of them being in favor of it. But as far as I have seen, this is an in-house debate among right libertarians. When it comes to the differences between right libertarians (what we here typically just call "libertarians") and left libertarians (what we here typically just call "communists" and would never consider libertarians) the distinctions are much more basic issues of whether or not private property and capitalism are ethical. But I think that within communist (i.e. left libertarian) thought, immigration policies are debated there as well. But to take repurpose the term "left libertarian" for those right libertarians (i.e. free market capitalist libertarians) who oppose state restrictions of immigration, is to muddy the waters of both debates.

People who have had Covid and got over it are going to be this country's saving grace. It's because of them that we can stop mandatory vaccinations. It should be just because of liberty n stuff, but it'll be because about a 1/3 of the country will get no benefit from a vaccination. There is simply no scientific way of making a case to jab those folks.

Reducing revenue to the federal government would be one point in favor of raising taxes if we really could be sure that would be the effect. But not enough of one to win me over to it.

Notice that the purpose is to ensure tighter regulations over construction projects in other countries. To Biden, America's role in the world is to spread a lack of freedom.

Really?! I suppose if by “bio” you limit that to physical biology. But if you consider what it did to psychological functions, and how it caused humans to destroy the world economy, then I’d say it was pretty damned effective!

See, this is the main place where we differ. I don't consider putting more money in the hands of the federal government "helping the society which has made their wealth possible." I see it as the exact opposite of that.

Sure it's possible. But that shouldn't matter. All they have is a positive result in a test. They didn't even get sick.

But there really is no proof that they came down with it. They were not sick. All they did was get tested and have the test come back positive. According to the CDC, the available COVID vaccines are effective in preventing you from getting COVID. You can take that for what it's worth. But it's at least safe to say that what the CDC claims is representative of what the vaccines are purported to do. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/effectiveness.html

While I agree with your analysis, it's also the case that Trump remains the front runner for the 2024 Republican nomination for president. It's reasonable that his treatment here in that capacity would be the same as his counterpart bit-player party nominee front runners were at this stage in previous elections, such as McCain, Romney, and Jeb Bush.

I'm confused. So this cruise line, in addition to requiring that all passengers be vaccinated *and* show proof of testing negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours before boarding, *also* tests these same passengers for COVID later on during the cruise, even if they're totally asymptomatic? And then these passengers who paid for this cruise, and who have no symptoms, and who already showed that they tested negative for COVID, and are vaccinated, have to be isolated on their cruise just because somebody gave them another test that got a positive result, which proves nothing, even though everyone around them on the cruise is also already vaccinated?

Right? A little dab of honey will make it stick. Come on, people. These kinds of things are put out on the webz to make opposition to the vaccines look stupid. mRNA technology may well be a miracle of modern medicine - but not the way they're using it. If you're at high risk from Covid, it may be worth you taking a jab, but putting these kinds of engineered "vaccines" into the mass population is just risky as hell! And it has nothing to do with magnets.

They have intrinsic metal properties. But those properties by themselves don't constitute value. Those properties only have value to thinking beings who evaluate them. Those evaluations are subjective, not intrinsic. Different people value them differently according to their own preferences, and they are even free not to value them at all. There you go again, equivocating on the words. You know full well that Ron Paul never once advocated any policies that would require anyone to accept Bitcoin. And you have produced no quotes where he says anything like that.

The idea that the rich will be "hit the hardest" may be a useful platitude for votes, but it's not reality. Ok, let's tax those dividends... That means more of that dividend money goes to the government. You know, instead of where they'd otherwise invest it. And what about the businesses and jobs that relied on those investments?? Screw 'em, eh?! Understand this: SPENDING IS THE TAX. Any way you take money out of the private economy to pay for that spending, either through taxation, devaluing the currency, or bake sales, the lower classes will always be hit the hardest. Because the resources have been misallocated.

Of course it will end. If something can't go on forever, then it won't. Hyperinflation has happened before, a bunch of times, and one thing they all have in common is that they end. Granted, it's economically devastating. But that doesn't change the fact that the root problem is runaway government spending, and you don't fix that by taxing more. If the choice is between what you call "supply side voodoo economics" and raising taxes, then the former must always be preferred to the latter.

Thats great. I hope whatever you two learned sticks forever. We're really struggling financially and of course we have other problems, but we're together, pretty happy and have faith that it will be OK.
I forget where you went. Can you tell me about the place? I also wnt to know (if you want to tell me) where you took her on date night. On our date night we went out to dinner and had some horrible conch fritters. NEVER AGAIN on conch fritters. But then we went out to a bar on the beach, and took a moonlight walk. Wound up nekked making love on the beach and got caught by a couple walking by. Allin all it was a great trip. Our's was in Delray Beach Florida.

I do not think your wife would have any problem finding a nursing job up here. My sister-in-law is going back to school just so she can become a nurse and she plans on moving here from Florida, that was the reason for her career change. They have visiting nurses. There are lots of good hospitals like Dartmouth Hitchcock.
