I hope you read above. The inflamatory jesterism has already begun, and there's a nasty nasty political fallout nickname already lined up. I can think of a few different media personalaities who's staff are already drooling at these prospects. I have to be unapologetic here, but I do offer some reinforcements: MEETUP! 81,000 members in 1310 groups. How? We've already gotten Dr. Paul's hopes up and the media is talking. It really is too late to turn back now.

The time to kill this idea was 3 weeks ago. It could have been quietly shelved along with many others that have been tossed around.
But Wonkette threw down the gauntlet to us. If we let them win, they'll bring it up for years. ![]() |

I'm posting this under my brother's screenname; I primarily come here to stalk.
I thought I should emphasize the fact that the only (this might seem mean) real example of nationwide Ron Paul support, happening in unity, are the money bombs. I'm not hardcore into supporting, but I am a supporter, and I don't know who's in charge of the teaparty07.com website or what, but I do know that he has over 25,000 email addresses. The supporters should email teaparty07's creator, tell him how the blimp is currently living through a near-death experience. Then, well, he should email supporters in his daily update. I'm sure some supporters have just max'd out on Paul's site and would appreciate the suggestion. Seriously, the blimp thing isn't nearly as organized as the money bombs, and I think that's more because the blimp thing hasn't had videos made dedicated to it, seems like a waste of money, and needs to get some spotlight. My personal opinion on the blimp doesn't matter, I just don't want Paul supporters to not only be called loons but loons that TRIED and FAILED to get a BLIMP. Yeah. If there's going to be continued examples of Paul's supporters being able to work in unity while being scattered across the country, we should have one nice resource bring attention to all grassroots events. I'm pretty sure I saw a "sign bomb" somewhere on the 15th, I wish I heard more about that. Another thing I saw was a Federal Reserve protest. Another was a January 1 money bomb. I saw the Ron Paul concert thing, too. I'm DEFINITELY sure there's more small ones. My point is this: Supporter organization, communication, and awareness of other projects is eroding. IF people each have their own idea for an event and reach out to some, but not all, supporters, then we're getting those supporters disorganized and stretching what was a growing movement into a thin movement. I suggest a nice grassroots website with a list of all grassroots events and have teaparty07.com link to it in each of their emails. A simple link, that's all. It's called a link because it connects, and that's something we need between supporters in order to keep the growing movement from fracturing. Email addresses, Youtube subscribers, Myspace friends, Meetup groups, and Facebook users are most of what we've got to keep the supporters together. The peace movement would have DROOLED over this potential. No more being sloppy! If majority>minority, majority should be able to pay for what they start. We've got passionate folk all over who want to express their newfound political passion, but do it alone. That's tragic, especially when there are people who'd be more than willing to stand by their side. I hope the blimp thing doesn't fail, really. That'd suck big time. Don't take any of this personally, I'm just concerned and suggesting. Constructive criticism only . . . I think this website and teaparty07.com have, rather they want it or not, the responsibility to keep this movement in place. If there was a single website for every grassroots event, these websites could get Ron Paul supporters' attention to them. Cool, if Ron Paul supporters come here for news (I mostly do that), have it redirect directly to the page of any "project in peril". No more deaths of small projects, just a resuscitation of them all. Maybe a little too melodramatic, but the organization of the grassroots is what could save the country from having it's throat slit by greed and corruption. Didn't mean to hijack thread, but I agree, we can't turn back. We'd look "Paultarded." |

Those comments made me that much more motivated to get this blimp in the air. I'd love to see their faces when they hear that we did it
