Arrow ** How Out-of-Staters Can Help Ron Win in WV **

Many of you have been following along with the saga of WV's new GOP Convention, which will decide who our state's nominee will be. This winner-take-all convention will announce its results early on Super Tuesday, February 5th, and the media will have little else to talk about as they await the other Super Tuesday states to announce the results of their traditional primaries.

You may also have read that the deadline for filing to run as a delegate to the state convention is fast approaching, and will be here in just a few days on November 30th.

We have had some good successes in signing up Ron Paul delegates. Currently we are currently in 3rd place, behind Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney; however, most delegates remain uncommitted to any particular candidate.

I think we've reached all the WV people on this forum. We've also reached all the meetup group members. Also, the campaign launched an automated calling campaign over the weekend, and just today I got no less than three direct mailings from them with instructions, forms, and envelopes to send them in.

If people from out of state really want to help, the best things you can do are the following:

1.) Contact anyone you know in WV and ask them to file as a delegate for Ron. Direct them to contact Gabriel McCall ( gabriel@ronpaul2008.com ) for instructions. Note: This does not mean to email the meetup groups. They are already saturated.

2.) Contact the official campaign and urge Ron to schedule an appearance at the WVGOP Convention in Charleston on the morning of Tuesday, February 5th.

3.) Click here to ChipIn and help us reach out to the state legislators and uncommitted delegates who will also be casting their votes at the convention.

Thanks! With your help we can win this thing.

I'm in for $10. Wish it were more. Let's keep this bumped toward the top, it would really be a kick if Dr. Paul could take WV!

Would someone mind educating me a little bit?

Let's say we get more delegates than any other candidate. What do our chances to win in WV look like, and how would it happen?

Thank you! Every bit helps.

We have more than 60 legislators and BoPW members to reach, then once the at-large delegate totals are in, we'll need to reach several hundred uncommitted delegates.

The chances are looking better all the time, provided we can reach the uncommitted delegates. The delegates to the state convention will vote for our state's nominee, and the winning candidate will then appoint 21 of WV's 30 delegates to the national convention. The remaining 9 delegates to the national convention will be decided during the May primary.

As of now, the overwhelming majority of the delegates to the state convention have not declared allegiance to any particular candidate. These are the people we are trying to reach, in addition to continuing to register new people as Ron Paul delegates.

Chipped in. In addition to sending DVDs/literature to state lawmakers, we should hit every delegate in the state up. Even those who say they are for McCain or Thompson or whatever may consider Paul or maybe as a second choice if their candidate does poorly. COULDN'T HURT.

Also, we should get a hand-written letter campaign going to all 1,400+ delegates in the state after we have a finalized list of them.

Thanks.

Excellent ideas. I'm going to hit up the legislators first, I know Larry is spearheading a drive to reach the uncommitted delegates, and I'm sure we can arrange to reach out to the delegates who have declared for someone else also.
