Default Linda McMahon reportedly close to a decision

Quote:
Everyone from DC insiders to wrestling bloggers are buzzing about Wold Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon and her decision to run for U.S. Senate.

The Hill's Aaron Blake, who broke the story tonight, cites an unnamed GOP source as saying McMahon's decision is "imminent." Another source says its "99 percent" certain that she'll run for the seat currently held by Democrat Chris Dodd.

Those close to McMahon would not confirm The Hill's report.

If she joins the race, McMahon would be part of a field that includes state Sen. Sam Caligiuri, former ambassador Tom Foley and former congressman Rob Simmons. Broker and pundit Peter Schiff has formed an exploratory committee and is expected to make a formal announcement about his plans on Thursday.

Peter was sure this will help him but his rationale didn't seem convincing

I do recall him saying something along these lines. But I couldn't find this exact video, do you mind posting it?

Was his rationale that McMahon is probably a similar candidate to Simmons and therefore they'd likely split the neocon vote while the more fiscally conservative republicans would still vote for Schiff? That would be the reason I'd think of that sort of makes sense.

Yeah, how does this hurt Schiff? This simply further splits the vote between the establishment candidates. McMahon will be a bit of a fringe candidate just because of who she is but she'll be your typical establishment Republican on the issues I'm sure. Anyone who votes for McMahon likely wouldn't vote for Peter anyways so splitting the vote between them is a good thing.

This is likely a good thing as long as McMahon doesn't spend too much money to overwhelm everybody...
