Oh that's got to get in the SPLC's craw. An african american gun-owner and an arab poster-maker as opposed to old white sovereign citizen gun people.

Take that, assholes.

I love this quote.

The man with the rifle declined to be identified but told The Arizona Republic that he was carrying the assault weapon because he could. "In Arizona, I still have some freedoms," he said.

The liberty movement is color blind. Anyone who is not color blind is not part of the movement. Anyone who loves and fights for liberty is my brother. And "because he could" should be sufficient reason for anybody. My guess is that this guy is rural type of person, but I also think inner city minorities who have suffered the brunt of police corruption and the drug war should be part of the movement and should be our brothers and sisters. The hip hop world is as foreign to me as anything, but I think they generally represent the fight for liberty as much as anyone. You have certainly heard some of the pro-Ron Paul hip hop efforts on youtube. We need to cultivate this association. It removes the convenient stigma that we are all white racists, which we are not. The more "diversity" we can incorporate into the movement, the stronger we will be. By the way, why wasn't this guy interviewed by the media. Why are there no youtubes of him speaking his mind. I don't even know his name, but the media made sure we knew Kostric's name.

Hurray!!! I hope this will start to put the lie to the idea that we are a bunch of white racists. Liberty brings people together. Does this man have a name? Why isn't he on youtube? We need more people like him - minorities fighting for liberty and our basic rights - so they can no longer paint us with the white redneck slur. I admire his courage as well as Kostrics. No way on earth I would have the balls to bring an "assault rifle" to a rally.

According to the media's logic, I should quake in my shoes if an NFL linebacker or professional wrestler walks down the street.

Afterall, a guy who is 6'6 260 pounds of muscle can snap my neck in 2 seconds flat. I'd have a better chance of bum rushing a gunmen that tangling with a giant.

Just read the Yahoo account. No photo, no clip, and no mention of his race. Can someone graft a photo of him in one of those black frames and caption it?

There is a difference between "many who voted for him" and "the media". The media has been playing the race card, the "domestic terrorist" card, the "astroturf" card and every other card they can get their filthy hands on. A lot of people who voted for Obama no longer support him. That's evident in the polls. But ask people like Keith Olberman and the fact that Obama won the last election means that majority must support everything he's doing. Forget the fact that most people who voted for him wanted him to end the war and he's not actually doing that.

Is it ok to shout "fire" in a crowded theater...if the theater is actually on fire?

The Yahoo link I posted has the video on the side. If you click on the video labeled "Gun carrying protester: 'exercising my rights' AP" you see the clip. Of course some will never click on the video and see it. Here is the pic Yahoo has for the video.

Notice that from that angle you can't see the protester's face and his race isn't immediately apparent.

I don't think its safe for people to bring loaded guns to these protests. Although, no article I read actually said they were loaded. It may also have the unintended consequence of making gun owners seem irresponsible, which I don't want to foster. A crazy liberal could possibly grab the gun-owners gun, and hurt someone in their zealous desire to prove a point.

Regarding this recent article on Yahoo, released by AP (Associated Press), they make no mention that the guy carrying the assault weapon is black. It's typical because he doesn't fit the stereotype of what they're trying to portray. This could actually be why the guy showed up, to show that black men can be legally armed too. And they aren't all liberals or Obama supporters.

It would be pretty stupid to carry an unloaded weapon.

The rest deserves no response.
