I was in 7th grade and they wouldn't tell anyone what happened at school. Everyone was in panic mode though.

Y'all are making me feel old. I was a Junior at Texas A&M University. I remember my wife (then GF) calling and telling me a small plane had hit the WTC. I then clicked on the internet and saw that another had hit. At that point I knew something was up but not what. I had to get to class so I went caught the bus. As I was sitting on the bus, news came over the radio on the bus that a plane had hit the Pentagon, and I knew S had just HTF. The girl next to me, started crying and said that we were about to go to war with Iraq. I looked at her amazed and told her it probably was Osama bin Laden not Iraq. It was kinda prophetic because we were both right.

Im ashamed to admit this..

But when i saw it live on TV (in sweden) my first thought was "This is so cool. The news is like watching an action movie. I wonder what happens next.". The next couple of months I was glued to the TV. Then US started going to war all over the place. I was secretly happy that it happened because it was the best reality soap opera on TV. After awhile even I realized that it wasnt a TV show. I think lots of people still think war is cool, and are secretly happy when shit hits the fan. When bad things happen to people far away its easy to feel disconnected. Its only when something bad happens to people close to you that things feel real.
