Question Can't WE take hold of this?

Collect signatures to get Ron Paul on the ballot as in independent. Or maybe start a write-in campaign.

Draft Paul!

I've been hollering for months that we don't need Dr. Paul's permission to get his name on the ballots of our states. All it takes is a petition. Four states have sore loser laws, but the other forty-six are fair game. It not only would ensure we can vote for him in the fall, but it would be a big, fat bargaining chip in a brokered convention.

Yes! Yes! Do it this summer!

I've been saying it too but I can't seem to get anyone to pay attention.

You don't need permission at all. Alan Keyes' supporters got his name on the ballot in West Virginia before he decided to run "just in case".

We can get Paul's name on. We can start a PAC and collect money and run ads and tell people on the internet. We can draft Ron Paul.

All we need is a decent website (with the dates of each states' filing deadline), the support of people here and elsewhere and maybe it's on section here ("getting Paul on the ballot", with each state listed for supporters to organize and talk or some such).

What do we have to lose?

The Libertarian and Constitution parties both need to make Ron Paul their nominee.

Here in Mississippi we only need 1,000 signatures by September 5th.

I'm going to be working on this in my State.

Please see the thread for some questions I have about how to go about this.

Great job.

Come on moderators, give us a "draft Paul" subforum where people can organize to get Paul on the ballot in every state.

I expect the state subforums would be the ideal place--if we can just get everyone to check theirs regularly.
