Default I'm Voting for Hillbama McRomney

Here's the email I sent out to every human in my address book today.

Quote:

You may never hear this from me again, but:

PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!

For those of you who do not know, my girlfriend Roxi & I quit our jobs and moved to New Hampshire to work as volunteers for Ron Paul's Campaign for the Presidency from November 14th to January 16th. I suppose you must be wondering why on earth we would do such a thing. :-)

It's not that I enjoy being a part of politics -- in fact, the more I learn about it the more it disgusts me. I've never even been involved in politics before at all, and today will be the first time I vote for anything, much less President of the United States.

I didn't get paid to campaign for Ron Paul either, in fact quite the opposite. I spent all of my savings and sold most of my possessions to do it -- and am perfectly content in the choice.

But why? I'll try to list the biggies, starting with the most direct effect a Ron Paul Presidency would have on me:

Ron Paul would abolish the income tax (which is immoral and unconstitutional) and replace it with NOTHING.

At my age, saving 1/3rd of my taxes every year in the future is worth FAR more than what I had invested in savings and possessions. Merely by helping Ron Paul's message get to the people and ensuring he stays in the race to the very end gives a greater possibility that people will hear the truth and that the IRS will be abolished in the future. In other words, even if he doesn't win the Presidency (and that will only happen if you forget to vote for him today. Yes YOU.), my bet is leveraged.

Can you imagine how much extra time and money you would have if you could keep all of your paycheck? Through volunteer groups and the churches we could give so much more to those in need if we could just keep the fruits of our labor. No 'stimulus package' could compare to the boost in our economy should we eliminate the I.R.S. and replace it with NOTHING.

The argument that we need the income tax to sustain the country holds no water -- we did fine without an income tax before 1913 (in fact we prospered), and if we got rid of it today we would only have to reduce government enough to fit inside the budget of 1998 to make up for the shortfall. We need little more than a scaling back of our global military presence to eliminate the financial need for an income tax.

Ron Paul would legalize competition in currencies, giving Americans the option of trading with a barter tool other than paper dollars that rapidly decrease in value.

Did you know that you can buy almost exactly the same amount of gasoline today for a dime made of real silver as you could when our country coined dimes out of real silver? That's because silver can't be printed out of thin air like 'funny money' can. When our government puts more paper dollars out in circulation by printing it out of thin air, it makes all the other paper dollars out there worth that much less. People on fixed incomes and anyone investing in the dollar suffers.

That is why the Constitution originally called for only gold and silver as legal tender for precisely this reason, and this is why Ron Paul wants to make it legal for you and I to decide to trade with ANYTHING we want to -- precious metals, bullets, batteries, garden seeds, whatever -- all of it tax free. He feels that those who spend money should choose the money spent.

I do too.

Ron Paul would abolish the Federal Reserve.

Perhaps the most eye opening knowledge I've gained while involved in this movement is of how much control banks have over our citizens. Did you know that the Federal Reserve is neither Federal, nor is it a Reserve? Yes, my friends, the part of our government that is in charge of printing U.S. Dollars is owned by private individuals -- not a part of the federal government. Furthermore, no reserve of gold, or anything else for that matter, exists within it to back up the value of our paper money.

The private bankers that comprise the federal reserve enjoy the exclusive priveledge of printing money out of thin air, loaning it to our government to fund welfare and warfare, and then earning interest off of the debt payments which come right out of American Taxpayer's pockets (after the salaries of the accountants and lawyers are paid, of course). As you may imagine, the bankers who make up the federal reserve are wealthy and powerful, and they don't have any problem with deficit spending or perpetual global war. Why would they? They profit off of it wherever it exists. These guys make Halliburton look as innocent as Jordan Sparks.

My vote today will not represent continued, biased murder of innocents around the globe in the name of power and profit.

It is common knowledge among military and geo-political intelligensia that our occupation of the Middle East is the major factor in what breeds radical terrorism against us. (Would you like Russian tanks on your streets?) Only Ron Paul is addressing this fact. Media turns a blind eye, as the major companies who control it are engaged in war profiteering. On T.V. and in the papers today we find images of so-called 'terrorists' who just decades ago were called 'freedom fighters'. Our government has funded both sides of every war since Vietnam, and they've lied about them all too. Why should we believe them about Iraq? Iran? Pakistan? The folks who are driving the policies of our federal government profit from war, and there is no plan to keep it from spreading. Meanwhile, our border guards are being pulled off duty to defend Iraq's borders, leaving us MORE susceptible to terrorist attack than ever before.

I will stand by no longer while the value of my dollar plummets as my government borrows billions of dollars from China to commit genocide across the globe. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of our men, and countless citizens of other countries have died in senseless, undeclared, unconstitutional military aggressions perpetrated by our government, and we are in more jeopardy than we ever have been before. My life has never seen any semblance of peace in the world. Only with Ron Paul is it even possible.

Ron Paul is the only viable candidate I've ever had a chance to vote for.

Ron Paul is the first candidate in my adulthood who both has a chance to win and deserves to win. Ron Paul is an honest man with real integrity -- not the fake kind painted on in commercials. In my eyes, he's the only candidate worthy of a vote. How can there be a 'second choice' when there is but one true leader among a gaggle of phony politicians and stiff suit bureaucrats who will give us nothing but more of the same?

It is urgent.

A simple study of the Roman Empire shows what happens when a militaristic nation over-extends in welfare and in warfare. Actually, you can choose whichever empire in history you like as an example because the same thing happens to all of them -- collapse. With the so called 'housing crisis' and the rapidly decreasing value of the dollar we are seeing signs of the inevitable. Remember when books cost more Canadian dollars than American dollars? Not anymore. Remember when an hour's work at minimum wage bought several gallons of gas? Not anymore.

I wish I could say that it is only in the arenas of war and monetary policy that these insidious threats to our 'life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness' occur. Sadly, the disregard of our founding documents and the manipulation by the few of the many is practically our modern government's purpose. A good example is health care:

Only Dr. Ron Paul understands how to best deliver affordable health care to Americans in need.

Did you ever notice that the cost of computers, televisions, digital cameras, and cell phones keeps going down, while the price of health care keeps going up and up? It's because the government is involved in providing health care, while it stays out of the business of gadgets. When government gets involved in the market the prices go up. What do you suppose will happen if the federal government takes on a LARGER role in the distribution of health care over the next few decades? That's what the other candidates represent, and our country simply cannot afford it.

HMO's and Pharmaceutical companies are the groups who stand to gain the most from socialized healthcare, so naturally they are among the biggest contributors to ALL the candidates except for Ron Paul. In contrast, Ron Paul received more donations from active military than ALL other Republican candidates combined in the final fundraising quarter of 2007. Sometimes it's so blatant and transparent you'd think even the mainstream media would report on it. You'd think wrong.

Only Ron Paul has a sensible budget.

Our budget requires borrowing TRILLIONS of dollars per year to pay for the government's current size. Where I come from, that means we are BROKE. Seems logical that we should find a way to SPEND LESS, RIGHT? Well, luckily, there is exactly ONE candidate on either side of the aisle who will do so. As the National Taxpayer's Union found in a recent study based on stated platforms of the remaining Republican candidates:

Mitt Romney = $19.5 BILLION dollars / yr MORE spending of taxpayer money + MORE war
John McCain = $6.9 BILLION dollars / yr MORE spending of taxpayer money + MORE war
Mike Huckabee = $54 BILLION dollars / yr MORE spending of taxpayer money + MORE war
Ron Paul = $150 BILLION dollars / yr LESS spending of taxpayer money + NO MORE war

Ron Paul is something true to believe in.

In this election it is not a mere choice among opinions -- it is a choice between one man who is addressing the root causes of the problems we have in America versus a long line of opponents who refuse to even speak about them. Ron Paul's solutions are practical, precise, and are based on careful examination of the history and theory of government, with careful consideration of the limitations of our country's Constitution. The other candidates, without a single exception, simply shape their policies to the will of lobbyists and special interests. In contrast, lobbyists in Washington don't even knock on Ron Paul's door -- they know he can't be swayed. As Ron Paul said himself, "We need a strong president... strong enough to resist the temptation of taking power a President shouldn't have."

In all my study of the usurpations of the currently out of control Federal government, such as its power to snoop on this email, interpret it as 'anti-war', label me as an 'unlawful enemy combatant', and detain me, without trial, indefinitely (Thanks, Patriot Act!), I have concluded that what is necessary is nothing short of rEVOLution. The 2nd American Revolution will most undoubtedly be a peaceful one, waged with truth and freedom of information, through both face to face encounters and emails like these.

Have no doubt; the revolution is beginning -- and it's far more than just this election. Ron Paul has started the brushfire, but it is carried on among We the People through our communities and local politics. Ron Paul Republicans are filing into precinct chair and delegate positions within the party to return it to what a party should be. We're taking our country back from the ground up, and I sincerely hope you'll join us.

Vote for Ron Paul today, and bring your friends. If you plan to vote for someone else (Hillbama McRomney?), please, I'm begging you: Don't vote. Has your vote gotten you what you wanted in the past? Let my generation have a chance.

Thanks,
Jay Nevin

Very well written. Don't worry about what percentage will read it - always remember that if it changes the mind of even one person, it's a success.

Here's what I sent out to my closest friends/family:
----------------------------------------------------
Hello everybody,

The first people who get this will know me. But for those of you who get it later, my name is Mike. I’m 30 years old, own my own small business, and am doing my best to live the American Dream. I’ve been thinking about writing this for quite a while, but I’ve never known exactly what to say. However, tonight I feel I don’t have any more time to waste. All I can say is, what follows comes from the bottom of my heart.

If you’re getting this message from me, it’s because I care about you. I care about your future. No doubt, each of you receiving this has a different relationship to me. We’ve shared different things and made different memories together. But the main thing that you all have in common is that I care about you. And because I hope that you care about me too, I hope that you’ll listen to what I have to say.

For the last couple years I’ve had an interest in politics. But it always felt like choosing between the lesser of two evils. Until this presidential election, when I found Ron Paul. A lot of you may not recognize the name. He doesn’t get a lot of attention in the media, and doesn’t get a lot of time in the debates. But when he does, these are the kinds of things you hear:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lP07YNDpDFM

Astonishing, isn’t it? A politician talking frankly about problems we face in this country. But you’ll never see that clip on the news. They don’t talk about Ron Paul much at all. When they do, they often describe him with a number of non-flattering adjectives. Those same adjectives are sometimes used to describe those of us who believe that what Ron Paul has to say should be heard by everybody.

It’s because of that belief that I’m writing now. I know that some of you aren’t political. Some of you may already have your candidate chosen. Some of you aren’t even US citizens. But this election is a very important one for our country. And I believe that when we make the decision about the direction we want our country to go, we should be aware of all possibilities. So please, watch this 45 minute video to hear what Ron Paul has to say.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...65602354164048

If you disagree with him, I understand and respect that decision.

However, if you DO agree with him, please send this along to the people in your life that YOU care about. Personalize it. Add your story before you forward it if you’d like to. Explain why it matters to you, and why you think it should matter to the people in your life. At the end of the day, all the joy in our lives is because of the people that we care about and those that care about us. And we’re all in this thing together.

Presidential elections should be about more than sound bites and nice hair.

Thank you very much for your time.

Mike
