Pentagon identifies Marine killed in Iraq

And still soldiers are dying in Iraq, 15 year afer 'mission accomplished'

The Pentagon on Sunday identified a Marine killed in Iraq over the weekend.

According to the Department of Defense's statement, Gunnery Sgt. Scott A. Koppenhafer died Saturday "after being engaged by enemy small-arms fire while conducting combat operations."

The 35-year-old was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, which fights ISIS.

The death of Koppenhafer, from Mancos, Colo., is under investigation.

President Trump has scaled down U.S. presence in Iraq during his tenure.

Earlier this month, the Pentagon blamed that drawdown for the resurgence of ISIS.

ISIS never existed 15 years ago, so now we're fighting an oraganization which was created in response to the 2003 invasion.
