Pelosi: Turning Texas blue is 'our hope for the future'

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told a crowd Saturday that Texas is a top target for Democrats come 2020.

Pelosi said at Tribune Fest hosted by the Texas Tribune that she agreed with Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairwoman Rep. Cheri Bustos' (D-Ill.) characterization of the state as "ground zero" for the party.

"This is it," Pelosi said. "Texas is our hope for the future. And I'm not just talking about Democrats. I am talking about the country and the world. When Texas goes blue, that’s going to be very wholesome for our nation. It is a beautifully diverse state in every way."

Texas will be blue in due time. Give it about 15-20 years.

Less than that, if current invasion numbers, both internal and external, continue.

Can’t wait for Texas to implement their state income tax, and increase all of their existing taxes.

Socialism is being imported to Texas, no doubt about that.

It is both. People of all political stripes flee a failed state. The question is how much did these people contribute to the failure? And will they repeat it?

California conservatives are like Illinois and Michigan conservatives. They are leftists.

Won't happen anytime soon. Under current law an income tax would have to be approved by a statewide referendum authorized by a simple majority in the state House and Senate. But under a proposed amendment to the state Constitution that's on the November ballot, an income tax on individuals would be prohibited. This could be overturned only by a constitutional amendment, which would require a 2/3 votes in both the state House and Senate and approval by the voters.
We have long had death and taxes as the two standards of inevitability. But there are those who believe that death is the preferable of the two. "At least," as one man said, "there's one advantage about death; it doesn't get worse every time Congress meets."

The most dangerous thing you can do in the immediate future will be to give yourself up unconsciously to the influences which are definitely present.” ~ Rudolf Steiner

    Good for them, thinking ahead.

The Blue Exodus Into the Red Sea

Democrats/liberals/"progressives" are exiting "blue states" because of the poor economy, crime increases, and other effects from failed Democratic policies within those states and fleeing to "red states" where the economies, crime, and other factors are relatively minimal in comparison. So why would they expect "red states" to flourish by implementing the same policies that caused them to leave "blue states" in the first place? Their hope is self-defeating.

"May future generations look back on our work and say that these were men and women who, in moment of great crisis, stood up to their politicians, the opinion-makers, and the Establishment, and saved their country." - Dr. Ron Paul
