    Remember, Remember....

    Happy Fifth of November!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Guy Fawke's Eve last night. Now, finally, it is a day we love to celebrate once a year. It is a day that will always live in our memories, as a day of standing up, a day of courage, a day of excitement for a possibility, and in the end a day of triumph. A day to celebrate freedom, to liberate mankind, and maybe, just maybe, to blow up Parliament every once in a while.

How do you celebrate the Fifth? Do you donate a little bit to a worthy liberty cause? If so,which one?

The Fifth of November will live forever.

A wave of the hat for Ron!
A moment of silence for V.
And a donning of shoes to walk on,
    to a future of liberty.

Except Fawkes was not for freedom... he wanted to blow up parliament so the church could take over, trading one tyranny for another.

But in the spirit of V for Vendetta and the glorious RP campaign.... yes, happy Guy Fawkes Day.
There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

Yes. The meaning of holidays can change and morph over the years. Guy Fawkes Day was a forgotten, nothing holiday, until the forces of liberty took it and made it about something else. The Fifth is not about Guy Fawkes any more. It's about us.

By the way, I'm having a hard time finding some of the old Nov. 5th promotional videos. Many seem to have been taken down. But, someone has probably copied them and re-uploaded them, but I do not even know the titles of the videos. So if anyone has some help in this regard... let's see those videos! Celebrate liberty!

Based on the idea of natural rights, government secures those rights to the individual by strictly negative intervention, making justice costless and easy of access; and beyond that it does not go. The State, on the other hand, both in its genesis and by its primary intention, is purely anti-social. It is not based on the idea of natural rights, but on the idea that the individual has no rights except those that the State may provisionally grant him. It has always made justice costly and difficult of access, and has invariably held itself above justice and common morality whenever it could advantage itself by so doing.

    from the "Gray State" folks,

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

I love the movie, never read the graphic novel.

    Little trivia...

Alan Moore, one of the creators of the original graphic novel hates the movie, along with the movie adaptation of another of his works, The Watchmen.

Article that sums up the differences between movie and novel:

Interview about V for Vendetta with Alan Moore:

I did read the interview. I wouldn't say he's a sourpuss, more of a purist who is annoyed that everything gets turned into a movie.

Such a shame I didn't care for politics during Ron's 08 campaign. I would have gladly chipped in some money that day.
