I'm pretty sure that's how Yoda's dialog was written. The scriptwriter told a bilingual German person what Yoda was to say, he or she translated it, and they typed the German into a computer and had it translate that back to English.

You sparked a curiosity and nailed it I think. So I went and checked into it. Yoda's sentence structure is apparently what they call "Anastrophe" which was common in Ancient Greek and Latin Poetry. I always wondered about the possible Latin connection.
