I can put together a reconstruction plan that would help them , ocean drilling comes to mind .

Judging by the way they vote as soon as you leave the coast, no more liberals. In voting the coast is blue inland is red.

The only reason why the wacko Progressive left in NY and CA is somewhat kept in check is because of the balance in Congress and the federal Supreme Court. You really want to turn over a state with the population, economic and military power of CA to National Socialists?

Thinking nothing bad will ever come of it in/out of CA is laughable.

Sure why not? Let them have their socialist fun without the rest of us. With CA gone conservatives would run the country for the forseeable future.

Actually , California has destroyed the balance in congress with all the liberals and hurts the rest of the country who will be better off without them .

California, on the other hand, is run by bush-leaguers with nary the brains of boiled turnips.

Mark my words on this point: if CA secedes, they will learn is very short order the pain of no more federal money, and it may well prove their undoing, economically. I do not believe, given the current raft of nuts and twigs pansies in charge, that CA could survive without the countless billions of federal monies they receive. I strongly suspect that CA would implode economically within a decade. The only avenue of temporary escape I see offhand would lie in the temptingly idiotic option of "nationalizing" resources such as silicon valley and selling them off to the Chinese to kick that can down the road for maybe another decade. After that, there would be nothing left to sell, save the earth beneath their feet, and who knows... those people are so bottomlessly stupid and corrupt, it would surprise me no whit were they to do that as well.

This becomes all the more plausible when you consider that CA would likely have to accept between $4 trillion. and $5 trillion of the national debt as a precondition of secession. I cannot imagine the feds would allow them much, if any, military accoutrements, apart from MAYBE the extant bases. I am not even certain the feds would let go of those. Can anyone here imagine them giving up Edwards? Mather? I cannot. So there you have a new stand alone nation, horribly mismanaged, no armed forces of which to speak, businesses probably running for the borders not to be sucked into the black vortex, with $4-5T in debt, much of it owed to China. How does anyone think this stands to work out? Not well for them, I suspect. And when they make it clear they cannot pay, they either become a Chinese protectorate or, more likely, territory, or China sends its navy to show them whose is bigger.

Seriously - can anyone here imagine that Ronnie Barrett would remain in CA, only to have his company drummed out of business by one means or another at the hands of the apes running CA government? I think Silicon Valley would largely pack up and flee, knowing they would be taxed and regulated into penury. Do we think the aerospace companies would want to have to deal with the international hassles or lose their candidacy for contracts with DoD? Perhaps, but again I don't see it as very likely.

There are so many entanglements and subtleties in the relationships between CA and the other 49 that secession would not be any simple matter. It would likely take years to consummate. I doubt the other 49 would approve in any event. How would they possibly benefit from it? I can see how they might lose.

Having to ask permission from everybody else sort of negates the whole idea of secession.

Man, I love the idea. Let this cesspool bankrupt itself to death via debt and fall into a spiral of poverty (not that it isn't currently) because the whole elitist state is up its own "butthole" (I meant another word... but apparently we censor curses here now).

And I'm sure there a some good people in California, but they would all flee and bolster the US with their skills and talents if/when they leave. If this were to happen..

All I would say to a California secession would be good riddance. And I hope for more secession like this in the future if it would occur (EDIT: I'm thinking of you New Jersey...)

So? It is immaterial if the rest array their forces against you.

When the issue is perceived as one of survival, all bets are off and the most treacherously determined, sneaky, and cunning wins.

I know that there isn't a hope in hell that it would happen anytime soon, but it is worth getting behind for at least a couple of reasons. First, to bring awareness to their movement and help it grow so that might have a chance one day. Second, I want to have the debate.

And not here, but with mainstream $#@!s. I want some warmongering piece of $#@! to tell me why the U.S. military should be overseas overthrowing dictators because those people have the right to self-determination, but the people in California do not. I want a real life example to blow holes in the typical arguments the big government crowd throws back at us.

    They want to secede, huh?

I really believe secession is the best hope for liberty. The US is just too big to reform. However I seriously doubt it will happen until we get a dollar crash and can no longer live beyond our means.

Change happens when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing. We're not there yet.

I'm all behind whatever legal inroads they might make. As you say, let's have the national conversation, without resorting to the "R" word. If CA can trailblaze a path to secession, then so can the rest of the states. Maybe the Swamp can woo them back by making the Union voluntary, as in, "what's in it for me"?

A man like him that has such hatred for the rest of this country outside the Progressive cites that for all intents and purposes he is anti-American would pose a greater threat unrestrained as President of CA (to direct it's large populace, military and economy), to the rest of us than he ever did during his tenure as President of the US.

Secessionists formally launch quest for California's independence

    http://www.latimes.com/politics/esse...htmlstory.html

Supporters of a plan for California to secede from the union took their first formal step Monday morning, submitting a proposed ballot measure to the state attorney general’s office in the hopes of a statewide vote as soon as 2018.

Marcus Ruiz Evans, the vice president and co-founder of Yes California, said his group had been planning to wait for a later election, but the presidential election of Donald Trump sped up the timeline.

“We’re doing it now because of all of the overwhelming attention,” Evans said.

The Yes California group has been around for more than two years, Evans said. It is based around California taxpayers paying more money to the federal government than the state receives in spending, that Californians are culturally different from the rest of the country, and that national media and organizations routinely criticize Californians for being out of step with the rest of the U.S.

The attorney general’s office will give the ballot measure a title and summary, and Evans said he hopes to begin collecting signatures to get it on the ballot in the spring. Qualifying ballot measures typically requires significant resources to pay signature gatherers, and Yes California doesn’t have major financial backing. But Evans said 13,000 people have volunteered to collect signatures.

“This is real,” Evans said. “We treat it seriously.”

Various groups have made noise about California forming its own country in the wake of Trump’s election this month, most prominently Silicon Valley financier Shervin Pishevar. But similar proposals have dotted the state’s political landscape for years. Yes California has tried and failed previously, and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper was not able to get a proposal to split California into six states onto the 2016 ballot.
what about new Hampshire? can we get them to secede along with Vermont?
it would be a definite hat trick, and I am down for it.
can you also take the Massachusetts with you... pretty please?

California has the best GDP in the usa and 6th largest economy in the world.... However, the state budget is almost in a deficit of hundreds of millions to billions of dollars every year. If they secede, no more federal funding hehe. That means california will have to raise their taxes a $#@! ton.

They've been talking about CalExit on Free Talk Live recently. A guy involved with the State of Jefferson movement (jeffersonccr.org) called in on Tuesday. He said they're using the CalExit issue to try to get something on the same ballot that would allow parts of California to remain in the US (the same way West Virginia did when Virginia seceded).
