Thread: Why Are Young People Having So Little Sex?

Young women, on the other hand seem to be obsessed about celebrities and social networking. And if any male so much as looks at them, he is a “creep”, and they spend all of their time talking about how creepy guys are.

That probably accounts for quite a bit of the trend. Bottom line: it’s because of the internet.
True story. One of the girls I work with called ME a creep.

She overheard me flirting with a customer. He, btw, was laughing. He told me the red beans were too spicy and said I should taste them. I told him I didn't make enough to put hot spicy beans in my mouth.

She thought that was a gross thing to say to a stranger and that it "encouraged" "them" and made it harder for the other bartenders.

I think what we joke over and call "sexual innuendo" is un-PC these days. A tragedy really.

The more this Puritan nation loosens up, the more Puritan it becomes.

It's a strange paradox to witness.

You do make a serious point here. An whole article could be written with your first sentence as a header.

From it’s current usage among younger women, it seems that “creep”, “creepy”, “creeper”, etc. have become derogatory terms for strangers and people older than themselves. Flirting itself is now “creepy”, especially if it involves a stranger or someone older than themselves. That would make you guilty on both counts.

There have long been theories that generations go in cycles. We may enter a new politically-correct Puritan era. Not your great-grandparents Puritanism. More of a twisted, highly sexualized, anti-traditional, anti-sex Puritanism. A paradox indeed. Probably a reaction to the free-love generation.

Why Are Young People Having So Little Sex?
Was asking this 45years ago.. never did get a good answer.

    Maybe it's just me.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Smartphones and social media have really changed social interactions. You get social interaction from your never-ending social feed, not random conversations with strangers. You want to just strike up conversation with a random stranger in a line, or somewhere? Completely abnormal. You're now a weirdo, who must be trying to sexually assault or rob them (despite us being safer than ever ... but the MSM keeps fear at a fever pitch 24/7).

Plus the internet which is everybody's rant space (plus everybody competing to have the interesting story that everyone can "smash like" on), so any time any guy tries to talk to you (a female), make sure to post how weird and creepy and dumb his conversation was - you know, for the laughs and validation of all the struggles you go through. That's toxic, be a guy - read enough of how creepy it is for chicks to have to talk to you, and you probably won't be doing that.

Tinder is the worst app ever known to man. I should just bite the bullet and make a profile as a chick to see what it's really like to be a chick on there. But - as a guy who was actually blessed with good genes, but is short, and doesn't have pictures of how he's been to 6 continents (??? - Northern Virginia), I guess that doesn't cut it. The app is unusable. You get 50 swipes a day, and you'll probably go through swiping on 350 people (7 days) before you get a match. And this isn't for a supermodel. To retain your sanity, you don't even get to read the chicks profile, you're just rapid fire swiping to get through those 5 minutes, so that you only waste 35 minutes a week, rather than 70, or 100.

The internet communication really hasn't helped much at all. Because apparently, while guys are getting a 0.2% match rate, apparently chicks are getting 75% plus (which probably makes sense ... because the guy's horribly low match rate certainly causes them to like more, in my case). So, they're matching with guys that DGAF (don't give a $#@!) about them, but of course guys have to send the first message, so that's probably why chicks get trolled and get $#@!ty messages ("because $#@! 'em, ya know?).
-But anyways, that raises a valid problem. Because now all these chicks have this huge pool of guys to choose from (giving the impression that they're valuable), and they have to choose, among these endless options. And they're terrible choosers. Because they've been raised in the "you can do anything age", and that it's women's time to lead the world, because they finally have the opportunity they've never had. And because they're so great, guys should just bend and break for them. But he still needs to be successful, and still be attractive (masculine), because he's a guy, ya know? It doesn't work like that. Guys are successful when they value themselves, and put themselves first, not sacrifice their opportunity for someone else or their bottom line. So, you can call the marketplace all kinds of distorted.

And yep. Porn is everywhere, 6.6 million videos on PornHub; I wonder how many lifetimes that is (...if only it worked like that). Yeah, it makes plenty of sense that teens are having less sex, it's not really a social taboo anymore (-where's the thrill?), and you can blow your load to literally whatever you want on the internet -- it's really too convenient not to, long term consequences be damned.

And yeah -- why go to any of this trouble when you can just get into video games. Pick any fantasy you want - Red Dead Redemption 2, relive life in the wild west, rob trains, build up your family clan, whatever other crazy stuff goes on. In real life I can't even change my car's oil in peace, gotta worry about some middle aged soy boy coming out saying the public street isn't a mechanic garage. Amazing.
That was a pretty damn good post. +rep

I knew the match rates on tinder were out of whack, but wow.. that is insane.

    Who's freaking out?

Last I looked we were all having a discussion.

In fact, in most threads I see a discussion going on.

As a general rule, if there is a "freak out" going on, I can usually track the start of said freak out back to you, or one of your fellow travelers.

Even without innuendo, harmless flirting is a dying art.
Make eye contact, smile, and give someone a wink and most of the time they look away uncomfortably. It's sad. Very few people seem to have that twinkle in their eye.

It may be a good thing in and of itself. But I fear that it's a symptom of something insidious. It's not because of of the influence of the True Love Waits campaign, or any other thing like that.

Lack of human interaction and too much social media, I think, causes people to be out of touch--pun intended. It's just like a person who is book smart, they may know a lot about things they read, but if they lack common sense and are oblivious to the people around them, is it any wonder why they cannot hook up with a man or woman?

There are too many narcissists in the social media world and not enough humbleness in real world. It's hard to get romantic behind a blue screen.

I personally hate when people talk to me in memes--LOL, Lulz, LMAO, etc...

Worst part of my job, walking through terminals. Especially in China. There needs to be traffic laws. Slow traffic keep to the right (or left in China), and pull over before you stop. If you are standing, do it next to a wall, not in the middle. Bend the line around to the wall, don't keep going out into the middle. Wait until people exit the elevator/train before rushing in (and don't rush, we all have bags, keep moving orderly to the back). And don't stop after getting off elevator or escalators!

And what if someone is female but identifies as male? Mansplaning?

(I told an SJW at work I was in a gay marriage, BTW. I told her my spouse had a penis but identified as a lesbian. I can't believe she didn't think that was funny. You'd think someone with pink hair would have a sense of humor but no.)

Just trying to figure out when I should be offended. All these genders are making mansplaning complicated.

I had to have it explained to me as well.

It comes from the video game world: an NPC is a Non Playable Character. They are inserted into the game as "filler" or think of them as "movie extras". They have no real purpose in the game, they do not effect game-play in any significant way, and they have very limited dialogue outside of bland platitudes and generalities.

The /b/-tards came up with this meme to represent them:
