Exclamation Salzburg Austria covers streetlights in padding to protect cell phone zombies

Lampposts are covered in airbags to stop 'smartphone zombies' bumping into them as they walk around staring at their screens in Salzburg

Lampposts are being covered in airbags to stop so-called 'smartphone zombies' bumping into them as they walk around staring at their screens in an Austrian city.

Salzburg authorities say tourists are increasingly hurting themselves by not looking where they are going while checking their devices.

Locals have described mobile phone users as Smombies, the short form for a 'smartphone zombie', and civic chiefs are taking action to stop them getting injured.

Another billion dollar tech invention!!!! Get on it IT guys.

Have google cars map all the polls. Create the proprietary tech that would allow for phones to flash a safety warning 3 ft. from such locations.

All I'd ask for my idea is 3%.

I mean, every time I look over at somebody furiously finger $#@!ing a phone, 9 times out of ten, they are playing some stupid game or something or checking in with the hive.

I have no idea. I have a list of people I won't go out with anymore because when I take the time to hang out, I expect someone's attention. I give them mine. It's just $#@!ing rude.

I walk up to the driver side window, & sure as $hit, there's a phone on her lap...luckily, I wasn't hurt & after a few choice words, I continued on my trek.
