Louisville, KY – April 5, 2012 – Today, the Louisville Tea Party announces its endorsement of Lewis County Judge-Executive Thomas Massie for United States Congress in Kentucky’s 4th District. Including Massie, 7 Republicans and 2 Democrats have filed to run for the seat currently held by retiring Congressman Geoff Davis.
The Louisville Tea Party – a nonpartisan political group advocating for fiscally responsible polices and constitutionally limited government- cited Massie’s fight against overreaching government as a citizen, and his record of eliminating wasteful government spending as a Judge Executive as reasons for the endorsement.
“Thomas has been described as being the tea party in his town before the tea party existed,” said Louisville Tea Party President Sarah Durand. “We believe he will bring to Washington the same ingenuity and common sense approach to problem-solving that led him to achieve tremendous success as an inventor and business owner.”
“I am honored and thankful to receive the endorsement of the Louisville Tea Party,” said Massie. “I will work tirelessly to advance our Tea Party principles of fiscal responsibility and Constitutionally limited government. Undoubtedly, the grassroots activism of the Louisville Tea Party will be instrumental in winning this election and invaluable afterward when we take the battle to Congress.”
