    Trump vs Reagan

I don't think either are good. But they are not Obama/Bush/Clinton/Bush and maintained at least a semblance of independence.

For me it just comes down to who did less harm. I think that's still an open question.

Trump is much worse than any of those on trade and immigration. But he's never done anything as bad as Obamacare or the Iraq War.

Agree on the first, though probably not for the same reasons. The second is what truly matters; most everything else is commentary. And on that you are 100% correct.

If Trump gets his eight years in with no new wars and winds down the others , the govt leaves healthcare be , no new income tax increases , thats as good as modern america will ever see . Look at how useless most of the house and senate are . There will never be spending cuts . Enjoy the calm .

Trump is already better than Reagan but I blame Bush Sr. for almost everything that happened under Reagan.
That assassination attempt may have failed but it let RWR know who was boss.

Trump is more Nixon than Reagan. Reagan wanted walls torn down. Trump wants them put up.

Promised to end wars but didn't, wanted to make a deal with China. Paranoid. Deal in stoking people's fears. Trump even hired some Nixon people to work for him including Nixon's dirty tricks specialist Roger Stone.

Trump is working on ending wars and he wants to make China play fair not build them up as a counter balance to Russia, Trump isn't paranoid.

If it wasn't for Trump's constant Israel ass sucking, I'd vote him head and shoulders above
    Reagan.
Reagan had some great quotes an was everyone's favorite Uncle, Trump has actually
    made a difference.

Both did some good. Both were gun grabbers. Hopefully Trump will quit listening to his neocon advisers and make peace with Iran the same way Reagan made peace with the USSR. Once peace was made with the USSR, the "evil empire" collapsed. The Bolton method of "confrontation against Iran above all" is what is propping up the Islamic Republic.

I'm not informed enough to speculate whether peace had anything to do with their collapse. Ron always said socialism in the Soviet Union didn't collapse because we beat it; it collapsed because it is socialism.

The fundamentals of the Soviet Union were bad, no doubt about that. But there is something about an external threat that unites people. People are willing to sacrifice because the alternative of surrender to the big bad boogeyman is unthinkable.
