Well, that's what this thread is celebrating, isn't it? Our government will shoot us in the head, whereas your government will only shoot you in the leg, and that means that we're stronger!

Of course, following this line of thinking, North Korea is MAGA heaven.

Whether you like it or not we are part of a group and I must use "we" to refer to the group when discussing what I believe the group needs to do.

You must be independent to be free and you must be able to provide for yourself to be independent, "Free Trade" isn't free because foreign governments exist and manipulate it to rob and conquer us, the ideal of world wide free trade would require the same impossibility that anarchy requires, governments would have to be banished from the realm of possibility, we can negotiate as close to free trade as possible with foreigners and that is what DJTvsg is trying to do, we can also have free trade within our territory and we do.

Trump doesn't want free trade. The EU offered to remove all auto tariffs and he turned it down.

They offered that because they know Europeans won"t buy American cars, Trump wants tariffs and barriers removed on EVERYTHING.

Have you considered the possibility that he knows the EU will refuse? I'm guessing there are zero countries in the world with no tariffs, let alone a large group of countries. Any reasonable person would conclude that Trump is bluffing, since he's asking for something that has never existed.

You're always praising the little steps Trump takes in the right direction (while ignoring the giant steps in the wrong direction). You say it takes small steps to get there. Well here's a perfect opportunity to take a small step in the right direction (no auto tariffs) and Trump rejected it.

If that is the case then they should agree and expose him, until they do he is the one advocating the libertarian position and they are the ones refusing it.

I do not ignore any steps in the wrong direction, I even am the first one to post the news about some of them, but those same steps or worse would have happened under O'Bummer or Hitlery or Jeb etc. and the steps in the right direction would not have happened.

Except we are already being ripped off in the trade wars due to our past leaders' collaboration, we can't agree to "free trade" steps that make it worse without anything to make it better, Trump is trying to solve two problems at once but we will be better off if we end up with tariffs because the other countries won't agree to free trade than if we do nothing or agree to measures that will make the trade war problem worse just because it technically is a small step towards free trade.

Do you actually believe Trump wants unlimited free trade or are you just playing devil's advocate?

I'm not completely sure, he may or he may be using that position to expose the hypocrisy of the foreign countries that are far more protectionist than us but demand that we don't fight back.

Either way he wants an even playing field with or without some tariffs and we need that.

Trump is better that Hillary. I'd give Hillary a 1 and Trump a 4. But Trump is not worth the risk because it's almost certain that we're going to get an economic crash and now it's going to get blamed on free market capitalism (despite the fact that Trump doesn't believe in it very much). At least with Hillary the crash would get blamed on socialism and there's a chance we'd elect someone like Rand Paul. Now we're going to get someone like Bernie Sanders.

We will see if you are correct but I don't agree, if Hitlery had won any crash would have been used to finish fundamentally transform America into a communist hellhole, we are so close to the point of no return that we can't afford the risk.

    This triggers the protectionists:

Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) have proved to be one of the best ways to open up foreign markets to U.S. exporters. Trade Agreements reduce barriers to U.S. exports, and protect U.S. interests and enhance the rule of law in the FTA partner country. The reduction of trade barriers and the creation of a more stable and transparent trading and investment environment make it easier and cheaper for U.S. companies to export their products and services to trading partner markets. In 2015, 47 percent of U.S. goods exports went to FTA partner countries. U.S. merchandise exports to the 20 FTA partners with agreements in force totaled $710 billion. The United States also enjoyed a trade surplus in manufactured goods with our FTA partners totaling $12 billion in 2015.

With which countries does the United States have an FTA?

    U.S. FTA Partner Countries

(Tariffs are not currently 0 on all products with all of these partners, they are phased agreements.)

Nope, I criticized the phony "Free Trade" agreements that have been made by our treasonous leaders, I could debate the merits of absolutely free trade vs. some tariffs but either one is a vast improvement over the garbage you are promoting.

China needs to be punished for stealing our intellectual property, especially computer chips DRAM etc. That's were the good jobs are and they flood the market with knock-off crap which hurts the entire industry. And the way you punish China is slapping down its steel.
