Trump says he's looking 'very, very strongly' at welfare reform

President Donald Trump said Monday his administration will start to consider reforming the welfare system in the United States, saying that some people are "taking advantage of the system."The comment comes as the Trump administration struggles to get any sweeping legislation through Congress, despite Republicans controlling both the House and Senate. Trump failed to pass health care reform earlier this year and is currently working -- without much success so far -- to pass tax reform.
"People are taking advantage of the system and then other people aren't receiving what they really need to live and we think it is very unfair to them," said Trump, flanked by Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during a Cabinet meeting. "Because some people are really taking advantage of our system from that standpoint."

"We are going to be looking very, very strongly, therefore, at welfare reform," Trump added.
Trump didn't say when this roll out would happen but said he would announce his plan "shortly."

Thats the easy part. Hard part is listening to all the people cut from welfare bitch and complain they want it back. And they always want someone else to pay for it. So those people turn around and vote for which ever politician is making the prettiest lies, and those same people are always willing to offer up the rights of others so they dont have to do the work themselves.

Sure, there is a place for a welfare system as not everyone can provide for themselves, and never have been able to. Example: Autistic child that was put up for adoption. But what if that welfare system were done so in a Free Market style? Perhaps volunteering welfare? As a giver, not recipient. Something like volunteering work at an Animal Shelter or Senior Citizens.

Those things used to be taken care of. Mostly by Christian churches and some fraternal organizations. But, these organizations have been excoriated to the point that the MSM would have you believe the Federal government does a better job of helping out those in need. As opposed to the truth of the matter in that the Fed. Gov. promises but fails to deliver. Hurricane Matthews inundated eastern N.C. and the Fed. told Carolinians to $#@! off. In the wake it has been churches and community non-profits that have taken up the slack.

By God the news media is absolutely disgusting. The CSR payments to the insurance companies were not part of the law. Those were ended. The federal subsidies to lower the insurance premiums of lower income people, were part of the law and will continue.

As for welfare reform, the majority received by white people, expect any reform talk to be used by the media to exacerbate race wars.

    Yep.

President Reagan once visited Salt Lake and was astounded by the LDS welfare system- said it was the best in the world. Now .gov has stopped their farming in many parts of the country and is trying to crush that very same welfare system. Heaven forbid that locals should take care of their own.

The gov needs to be taken out of everything.

The way I look at it, without welfare there's more stuff to go around since the producers have more incentive to make stuff. With more stuff to go around, it's more likely that everyone will get taken care of.

Isn't most of the "typical" welfare at the state level? It seems to me that most of the spending at the federal level is not "cutting a check to a poor family". The big three are SS, Medicare, and Military and then there's welfare at the corporate level like farm subsidies. But I didn't think there's too much individual welfare going on.

Actually that's one thing I always wondered about Bill Clinton and the Republicans "End of Welfare as We Know It" reforms. Were they constitutional? It seems like the Fed was telling states how to run their welfare programs.

As @spudea mentioned, no, he did not. Individual and household/family subsidies for health care continue.

Trump's health care plans have always been focused on lowering the cost of health care borne by the consumer, whether resulting from reforms or by additional government subsidy. He's repeatedly supported universal health care, and he encouraged the Senate to modify the House's bill to spend more. He knows that if any changes that he makes increase cost, his populist base will begin to howl. Luckily for him, he's got the Freedom Caucus which he can roll under the bus if necessary as the scapegoats for lack of "progress."

She would be taking us in horrible directions in a million different ways, PLUS she would have been just as bad on foreign policy. Sorry, but there is a huge difference between these candidates, enough to where it actually matters, enough to where it is actually highly beneficial to have one person in office over the other. Sorry, but you were wrong. When you said that Trump being better than Hillary is no reason to be supportive of him, you were wrong. PERIOD.

TheCount is on vacation in Morocco.. what a coinkeydink.. I went on vacation in the eastern sierras two weeks ago, the week that the Vegas shooting happened. I tried keeping up with the thread but wasn't really able to post much. That is one week I REALLY would have liked to be able to pay more attention to what was going on because I think there was some weird stuff going on, but I was trying to keep it to a minimum. TheCount takes his vacations when Rand convinces Trump to completely overhaul the health care system. Again, strange coinkeydink.

The problem with TheCount is not that he was on vacation for a couple days, it's that he's been on vacation for 8 years from posting anything negative about democrats. Probably just a coincidence.

And I NEVER agreed that Trump was better in any way than Hilary. They are both dung heaps- just some here like one flavor of dung better than the other.
