Is There Really a Crisis? COVID Deaths Compared to 2018 Flu Deaths, State by State

In 2018 in Alabama 1,256 died of the normal flu, compared to 538 of the COVID virus at the time of writing this year, with the worst of flu season over if this coronavirus behaves like every other coronavirus. The first thing that jumps out about this epidemic on a national level is that it was by and large a New York metropolitan area disease, with nearly 30,000 deaths in the state and the vast majority of those in the New York-Eastern Jersey seaboard. This is the most densely populated metropolitan region in the US. Internationally, hard-hit Italy also was notable for an unusual demographic feature of being the second oldest population in the world, next to Japan.

Yet although more people died in most states in the US during the 2018-2019 flu season, it was never called an epidemic, nor was the US economy closed down with devastating consequences, such as people losing their teeth for lack of dental care, or massive unemployment, or people dying for lack of surgeries deemed elective.

By the numbers, the table below shows how many people died of complications resulting from the flu in 2018, versus the number who have so far died from the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Oh one more thing. They DID say up to 2 million dead without lockdown, and social distancing. So maybe we did the right thing, since we didn't know what we were dealing with? Well guess what. The one and only guy in the world who was saying 2 million in US dead goes by the name of Neil Ferguson. Turns out, he has a reputation among scientists of never being right. Ever. One time he was so wrong the government was persuaded to starve and open-slaughter millions of sheep. A critical scientist said it was the worst thing he had ever seen.

Is Ferguson still respected? Funny you should ask. Fergie recently was forced to resign in disgrace from Imperial College because he was banging his married girlfriend outside of quarantine.

At this time the only stats that matter, and only if they are truthfully reported, is deaths and hospitalizations. Neither of which, seems to me, are outside the realm of 'normalcy' when faced with a new virus.

No. But dollars to donuts it's being called COVID no matter what it is.

June is typically the end of the Flu Season. That's nine days from now.

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!

Since Flu Deaths were probably counted as Covid19 deaths, I would suspect the stats for Flu Deaths will be much lower this year.

Of course they can always say, 'That's because everybody was practicing 'Social Distancing' and staying at home.

Doctor after doctor and nurse after nurse is grousing about the pressure to code deaths as COVID, due to the perverse incentives which pay hospitals more for each COVID patient. I wouldn't be surprised if the COVID numbers were not inflated by minimum a good 25%.

COVID-19 has killed almost 100,000 in less than 7 weeks.

Whether 2018 or 2019, the flu seasons were far longer than 7 weeks.

If you divided those deaths by duration, it most definitely will not get you 1500-2000 deaths each day.

No matter how you try to twist it, unless you're denying the reported and recorded facts, COVID-19 has killed more than any influenza season in this country.

Nobody dies from co19 , they die from pneumonia and after being put on a vent . The real question remains , will they shut down the economy for two months again next yr for the next cold virus ?

A third of those were in NYC, result of over-crowding and filth. This was never a national problem.

Many more died of flu in 2018 in most other states, yet there were never calls for lockdown.

They need to vaccinate the Democrats first. They seem to be more prone to death by Covid-19.

Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long.

Ventilators Kill Patients.. That was found early on. If you are putting them on vent you already FAILED.

    stats say otherwise.

Don't worry, most Democrats will gladly get vaccinated, but it's red states that are reporting more cases and deaths per capita (NY & NJ are the outlying exceptions due to early explosion of cases)

‘How Could the CDC Make That Mistake?’
The government’s disease-fighting agency is conflating viral and antibody tests, compromising a few crucial metrics that governors depend on to reopen their economies. Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, and other states are doing the same.

    1. look at your chart again, for the past since months since June, those numbers most likely exceeded 2018 flu
    2. If CDC did conflate antibody with viral tests, that's wrong, but i doubt people like you care either way.
