    Marine Le Pen: French Patriot

Le Pen declares war on Merkel (and "Vice Chancellor" Hollande) by publicly shaming/destroying her. It sounds to me like Le Pen is on our side. In my eyes, this woman is certified (French) Liberty Movement Patriot. If you disagree, quote. Remember that the French (Le Pen), Jeffersonians, and Hamiltonians (Bannon) won the Revolutionary War together. Enjoy.

There's nothing remotely libertarian about Marine Le Pen.

    favors inflationary monetary policy
wanted to nationalize banks during the financial crisis
    opposes cutting welfare spending
    opposes privatization of state-owned enterprises
    opposes free trade
    opposes free immigration

And, perhaps most peculiar given her nationalism, she favors a world central bank and currency as per the Keynes-approved Havana Charter.

She and the rest of the new right in Europe are just run-of-the-mill socialists with a nationalist bent who know how to rouse the rabble.

Just like Trump on this side of the pond.

Libertarian is a stretch but hell of a lot better than any other French president in the last several decades.

    How so?

Granted, all major French politicians have been awful for a very long time, but I don't say see how La Pen is an improvement.

She opposed Sarkozy's efforts at privatizing state-owned enterprises and cutting public pensions, for instance.

And it appears her only criticism of the ruling Socialist Party is that they don't restrict immigration enough - nothing about their socialism.

Economically, I'll concede your point. Politically, wanting to take a hammer to the glass facade of the EU

Yea, but for all the wrong reasons.

She's anti-EU like the radical left is (EU prevents us from printing as much money as we want, prevents us from restricting trade like we want).

And, of course, she wants to restrict immigration more than the EU allows.

...none of which is remotely libertarian.

For all the problems with the EU, what most of the Euroskeptic parties are offering is worse.

I think your concerns are valid ones. At the same time I also think taking back national sovereignty is a good start to move in the right direction.

It seems clear at this point EUs immigration policies have massively failed. Given the playing field there's no one better in the running. Here's a good breakdown:

Now France goes total Orwellian in completely Mad Hatter Bizarre way

France Charges Le Pen for “inciting terrorism” for Condemning the Terrorists acts of ISIS/Daesh

In the latest example of the European Union's disturbing new tendency toward outright suppression of any speech that bureaucrats in Berlin, Brussels, and elsewhere find unacceptable for any number of reasons, former French National Front leader Marine Le Pen has been formally charged with circulating "violent messages that incite terrorism" for a series of tweets she sent after the massacre at Paris concert hall the Bataclan back in 2015. …

because there's no better way to defend an open society than to crack down on free speech and enforcing not only official censorship, but, by extension, the self-censorship that these policies encourage. …

The charges stem from a series of tweets Le Pen sent in the weeks after the Bataclan massacre, where she shared disturbing photos including images from the beheading of American journalist James Foley.a man in an orange jumpsuit being run over by a tank … a man being burned alive in a cage. "Daesh is this!" Le Pen wrote in a caption. The tweets were a response to a TV journalist drawing a comparison between ISIS and the French far-right.
"Let it not be said that we did nothing." - Dr. Ron Paul. "Stand up for what you believe in, even if you are standing alone." - Sophie Magdalena Scholl
"War is the health of the State." - Randolph Bourne "Freedom is the answer. ... Now, what's the question?" - Ernie Hancock.

Le Penn is a lawyer. A LAWYER.
She knew exactly what she was doing.
She posted the tweet to trigger the reaction.
    She's eating it up.

It wasn't the 'words' technically... it was the 'graphic images' which the French 'law' forbids/punishes.

    She is an open socialist.

If the communists in Paris wish to advance their goals by this, so be it (the Germans, now also communists, are in no position to correct them).

    Europe is finished.

So, needless to say, is the reality TV continent a few thousand miles to the West.
