Playboy Is Featuring Naked Women Again -- After Dropping Nudity a Year Ago Due To the Internet

    https://tech.slashdot.org/story/17/0...o-the-internet

The 63-year-old legendary men's magazine is bringing back nude models in its upcoming issue -- one year after banning naked photos in an effort to boost circulation and attract more mainstream advertisers. That effort obviously has failed.

One of the main reasons why Playboy dropped nudity in the first place was because the internet filled the demand. Ravi Somaiya reports in the New York Times, "For a generation of American men, reading Playboy was a cultural rite, an illicit thrill consumed by flashlight. Now every teenage boy has an internet-connected phone instead. Pornographic magazines, even those as storied as Playboy, have lost their shock value, their commercial value and their cultural relevance." The issues published under the no-nudes policy, which featured both scantily clad models and could-be naked women with strategic parts of their body covered up, will all change with the March/April issue now hitting newsstands. The issue trumpets the change with a cover headline: "Naked is normal."
Yay! Now there is proof guys dont just read playboy for the stories!

I am not their target audience. But I think the magazine pictures were better when they did not show crotch. Up through the 60's their models looked sweet. In the 80's they started taking on a harder edge, like porn stars.

If I were in charge, I'd go back to the 60's look for the models and nix the fake look (overly botoxed/fake boobs/giant clown lips). The porn star look is everywhere and IMO, men seem to prefer the pretty girl next door look anyway. I could be wrong, though. Maybe men do prefer the porn star look.

I agree. I also think men find room for both . I might be wrong, but I think the son running the magazine might be gay. (I watched something about his ex-wife and family 10 years ago maybe. He was still a teenager, but I thought he flamed.) That might be problematic. Gay men might struggle with defining what hetero men find attractive.

I'm the very last man you'd want to consult on what the pop zietgiest finds attractive in a women, but I'd take the girl next door look over the harsh, porn star/senior executive/pantsuited harridan look that most women favor these days.

I thought it was just me, that women were getting harsher and nastier looking these days.

This is how my mind works: was watching some Top Gear clips the other day, and for one segment they had a guest on, and in the background through the whole scene was the cutest woman I've seen in a long time. Something about her just caught my eye, doing nothing but smiling and enjoying the show.

Looks like a "girl next door" to me.

She is adorable (even with that Gawd awful lumberjack shirt on) because she's happy and smiling. She comes across as a pleasant person to be around. I bet you wouldn't have noticed her or, worse, had a bad impression of her if she had been sitting there sulking throughout the show.

    Words to live by...

I believe that's an Audrey Hepburn quote.

Its not just you, there is something about people with full cheeks and quasi/real dimples that is very attractive. Isn't that the reason why women apply blush on their cheeks?

There are a lot of really hot girls with fetal alcohol syndrome.

The hottest ones you can't even really tell. They tend to have thin upper lips.

I don't even see how shoe0nhead has it, but she claims she does.. she is really smart and pretty

Here is a child with it
