That's the best laugh I've had in days.

The stupid chick should have been beating a careful retreat and instead she sticks around and freaks out as if it was eating her child.

At least it wasn't one of the rapey bears Luc told me about. I half ass expected her to pull out a rape whistle to go with her mace.

haven't really seen a topic on this before, as far as I remember..
I have to say, my memory is really sharp, but this is only when random facts are concerned,-
not when we're speaking about the entire index of these boards. Couldn't remember that.
Now, not to make this introduction to the subject of this topic too long, I'll shut up about this disclaimer.

Now, I've always been interested in backpacking/trekking/survival/mountaineering, I've done courses on a few things,-
and read up on a whole bunch of other things. I've done some things with friends and some solo things.

Currently I'm considering going on a solo trip around Christmas for a 3-4 day hike through the snow with my puppy (6 months). He loves being outside and his breed is known to love the snow. He has enough fur so it's not a problem either. I've got all the gear to do this easily and comfortably... Although, comfort is a relative term. As long as I feel warm, I'm comfortable.

Anyways, I'm not sure yet where I'm going. The situation with 'wild'camping in Europe is always a strange one. In most places it's more or less tolerated if you leave no mess but technically illegal.. Open fire is the big no-no that gets you high fines. In Scandinavia however, Sweden, Norway and Finland.. You can camp pretty much anywhere as long as you bother nobody and aren't right next to where people live. Also, you can make fires. So I tend towards Sweden. Of course, I am going to study my chances of getting raped there, because I heard that can be a problem....

So, anybody here with similar interests ?

    "You're supposed to be asleep"

The fact that bears hibernate, doesn't mean, they sleep all the time. They just sleep A LOT.
It doesn't mean they don't eat at all either, it's just that they can do without food if they have to.

Ah well, she survived and didn't get raped. That's a win I guess.

//I'm not planning on bringing bear mace as that is not available here, it's considered a weapon and you can't have that. Maybe I could purchase some in Sweden, but I don't have a clue where, don't think they have any at Ikea, that's the only Swedish store I know, lol.

I want you to go back over there tonight,
And tell them I'm feelin' right,
You tell them I love each and everyone of them,
Like a brother and a sister,

But if they give me any trouble tonight...
I'm gonna run every God damn one of them off the hill!

He took two steps backwards and didn't know what to think,
Neither did, I but bein' charitable and cautious,
Well hell I approached him again.
