    Shifting to Federal Reserve: Over 5,000 Turn Out in Portland For Occupy Portland Protest

    Thought this part was interesting.

    The huge turn out comes as the Occupy Wall Street Protests have gained momentum and have shifted their protests towards the private Federal Reserve!

    don't believe the media lies -- this was in part always about the Fed. Glad it's getting attention now.

    That is refreshing however, what I worry about more is that a large segment of these people would grant block the power of the Fed to the Fed Gov. Greenbacks are just as bad as FRN's. So, to that end we must educate these folks about gold, silver, legal tender laws, competing currencies, and other market initiatives like Bitcoin. Can't sit back and rest on our laurels. Maybe start pamphleting and getting out in front of this.

    i don't disagree that many there are misdirecting their anger. nothing new there, part of the problem is how difficult it is to identify the problem when so many things are screwed up. should we be angry at the Fed? Bankers? Politicians? People all have different backgrounds and histories, and while we may not all agree on specifics, the world is waking up to the fact that there is a serious problem. That's huge.

    But it's a group of individuals, all with their own beliefs. Those who seek to condemn them (like regurgitating Fox News portrayal) need to realize that the media consistently radicalizes and marginalizes any act of protest. To put it bluntly, if anyone here went down to the group to protest the Fed, they'd be grouped in with the rest of the 'riff raff' the media portrays. That is to say, the reason you, personally (whoever that is) is there will not match what the media says... and that's true of pretty much everyone.

    I was there briefly. I personally saw 3 Ron Paul guys w/ End the Fed signs and talked with them for a minute, but overwhelmingly this event (prior to the crowd arriving at the courthouse square, which I didn't go to) was dominated by leftists asking the rich to pay more taxes, stopping corporate greed, more socialism, stop global warming, and the like. There were probably more End the Fed people than I knew of though - a tea party radio host Victoria Taft mentioned on her show there were many end the Fed signs and chants going on and mentioned that they must be the Ron Paul group.

    Wishful thinking. Can they verify this is true? Talk is cheap.

    I agree, but it is our job to educate them on the dangers of public alternatives. Their anger is great, though. It shows that people are finally sick and tired of what has been going on. If there are any people in Portland like the young kid at Wall Street (that video has become one of my top 10 of all time), I will be happy forever. Affa makes great points as well. There is no real innocent party in all of this mess. Maybe different degrees of guilt, but no one gets off totally scot-free.

    Isn't the area largely left leaning? So I would have sort of expected your experience to be the reality there. More power to you for going!!!

    Go Forward With Courage

    When you are in doubt, be still, and wait;
    when doubt no longer exists for you, then go forward with courage.
    So long as mists envelop you, be still;
    be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists
    -- as it surely will.
    Then act with courage.

    Oh, the naysayers are gonna come back out of the wood work. Just think, you could have been out there helping steer the ship this way; instead you would rather ridicule from the sidelines.
