Trump rejects immigration compromise


President Donald Trump on Friday morning delivered a potentially fatal blow to a compromise immigration bill under development in the House.

Trump said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" that he is not planning to sign the negotiated measure.

"I'm looking at both of them. I certainly wouldn't sign the more moderate one," Trump said when asked about the two bills teed up for votes next week -- the compromise and a conservative-preferred bill. "I need a bill that gives this country tremendous border security. I have to have that. We have to get rid of catch-and-release."

Hours after President Trump appeared to tank the emerging House immigration compromise by saying he wouldn’t sign it, the White House sought to clean up the mess, releasing a statement that the president actually did in fact support the plan. Just for good measure, they said he also supports the more conservative bill that is expected to get a vote in the House next week as well.

“Yes, we fully support both the Goodlatte bill and the leadership bill. The President misunderstood the question this morning on Fox News,” an anonymous White House official told the Hill. “He was commenting on the discharge petition/dreamers bill — not the new package. He would 100 percent sign either Goodlatte or the other bill.”

The only thing we know for sure is Trump’s mind seems to change often when it comes to immigration legislation and nobody really speaks for Trump except Trump. So it remains to be seen whether this White House statement is definitive or just another step in the strange journey that began Friday morning.

To be fair, Bush had left border mostly open and instituted fast track programs as there was great need for recruits to defend our way of life through operation Iraqi freedom , overthrow of statue of Saddam Hussein and standing by our closest allies like Israel, Saudi in mideast.
Trump and Kushner led NAFTA 2.0/USMCA , DACA policies seemed to be more ideologically driven thanks to their inclusive, pro 'diversity is our strength' model political training in NYC.

That said, this Drudge headline few days after Trump SCOTUS pick Gorsuch's DACA vote and so close to elections seems almost politically timed and could boost extremist critics like Coulter. Drudge like Coulter used to be in MAGA camp, not clear what is going on.

The Census Bureau has released its latest population estimates, which include data from 2019. And on the whole, it shows an aging white America and an increasingly diverse United States.
Here are some general insights:

• Our nation is getting bigger: The total population hovered around 329 million in 2019, up from around 308 million in 2010.
• Baby boomers are no longer babies: The 65-and-older population swelled by nearly 35% between 2010 and 2019, driven by the aging of baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964. In part due to this, the median age of Americans rose from 37.2 years to 38.4 years. (The median age for non-Hispanic whites, in 2019, was 43.7 years, compared to 29.8 for Hispanics, 35 for Asians, and 32.3 for Black Americans.)
• The U.S. is becoming more racially diverse: The U.S. population was about 60% non-Hispanic white in 2019, a record low for the country, and experts predict non-Hispanic whites will be a minority in 25 years. Meanwhile, Hispanic and Asian populations grew by 20% and 30%, respectively, from 2010 to 2019, and the Black population grew by 12%. While the white population grew by 4.3% compared to 2010, the number of non-Hispanic whites fell by more than half a million people from 2016 to 2019.
• The face of America is changing fast: In 2019, for the first time ever, nonwhites and Hispanics were the majority for people under the age of 16, signaling a demographic shift that experts expect will continue over the coming decades.
