Been thinking of the movie Logan's Run (1976) and the premise behind it. With all the new environmental and global climate change agendas when will we be allocated or rationed a certain number of "units" for using the worlds resources?
It depicts a utopian future society on the surface, revealed as a dystopia where the population and the consumption of resources are maintained in equilibrium by killing everyone who reaches the age of thirty. The story follows the actions of Logan 5, a "Sandman" who has terminated others who have attempted to escape death, and is now faced with termination himself.
I'm picturing say you start life with 10 million "units" or "carbon credits" and everything you use and buy has an allocated number credits to it. Say you use a gallon of gas, then 100 units is subtracted from your account. Buy meat? then that's another 100 credits subtracted. Plant a tree then that's 50 credits added. The catch is that if you reach zero credits then you are disposed of and we maintain a balance between resources and population. Of course all this is probably managed by Google's huge database and enforced by Government that comes for you.
However, in the movie if your indicator lit up you where treated as a celebrity and you were sent to be elevated to another plane. In reality the brainwashed masses were really zapped like a huge fly zapper.
When will there be "Carbon Unit" labels on our food and resources we use?
