The scale of this operation (regarding the arming jihadists in the Middle East) is much bigger than smuggling weapons in Diplomatic flights. Beside this there is parallel running, more or less legal, program of weapon deliveries to Saudi Arabia from the countries of eastern Europe. Private cargo airlines delivered tons of weapons in last years, as was disclosed in the following OCCRP investigation which I recently found as I searched for more details about Azerbaijani weapon smuggling operation.
