Thumbs down Romney plans 2018 Senate run

Two-time presidential candidate and former Utah Gov. Mitt Romney reportedly plans to run for Senate in 2018 if Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch retires.
Romney has yet to publicly commit to a Senate run, but he has reportedly decided to run in the event that Hatch steps down after his seventh term, two sources close to Romney told Utah Policy.
Hatch, 83, remains undecided about his future political career, but has said that he will run for his eighth term contingent on the continued good health of himself and his wife. Hatch likely won’t make a final decision on whether to run in 2018 until December, effectively preventing a field of challengers from assembling, according to Utah Policy.

There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket.

He will move to Utah just in time to qualify, or maybe he already owns a house there and they will claim that counts.

Ah yes. If he runs in MA I don't really care because it's not like we're going to get anyone good there, and from what I've seen of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, Romney would be an improvement.

But Utah has more potential for liberty-minded candidates.

    Maybe McMuffin will run too?

J/k. The Council for a New American LDS Alliance will choose who can run.

Ah it was the one in NH and wasn't Carol but a grand daughter.

When Mr. Paul’s campaign jet broke down last year in Wolfeboro, N.H., Mr. Romney’s wife, Ann, offered to let Mr. Paul, an aide and one of his granddaughters stay the night at their summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. When Mr. Romney arrived later, he offered his jet to take them home to Texas. Mr. Paul, not wanting to impose, was grateful but declined both offers.

Agree- and Romney was never governor of Utah, so the OP is inaccurate.

Lol, of course he has to go for a strong Red State capable of electing a good or atleast ok Senator. He can't try and prevent the Democrats from putting a Socialist in office in MA. Can't even make himself the lesser of two evils, and will instead make things worse than if he stayed out. Not surprising.

Romney will probably win just about any election he inserts himself in at this point. His name is too big. Utah is an obvious choice because he can play the Mormon identity game. So this isn't a huge surprise.

Not that it matters who wins that election. Hatch is as Republican as they get and he should never be mistaken for someone who supports the ideas of liberty. This will be true of whomever succeeds him.

Romney's also famous in Utah for financially backing the Olympics back in 2002. AND- Hatch is a POS- almost anyone would be better.

It doesn't say Romney was governor of Utah. It says, "Two-time [loser] presidential candidate and former Massachusetts [Romney/Obama care] Gov. Mitt Romney reportedly plans to run for Senate in 2018 if Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch retires." [my emphasis]

They must have corrected it, in my OP the quote from the article said:
