    Anybody An Old Navy Ship Person?

    @navy-vet I'm looking at you!

    I got this old framed photo in my shop. At first I thought it might be the Arizona but Wiki says she had 12 turret guns and I believe this one only has 10.

    Forgive the weird effects. I was cutting/scribbling my reflection out of the picture.

    Looks very similar to the USS South Carolina, built in 1906.

    But missing the twin stack and single anchor.

    No, I think you may have it right...the guns were changed at a shipyard upgrade in 1929-1930

    An even earlier pic.

    Sure looks like it.

    @angelatc

    Found it.

    That is the USS Oklahoma.

    Also sunk at Pearl Harbor with the loss of 429 lives.

    More than welcome.

    I'm pretty sure of that, if you look, the guns, the dual anchors, the boarding stations, ship's cranes, stack and bow configuration all match.

    Heh - Don't know what a boarding station is. I ruled the Arizona refurb out because the guns under the deck appear to be retrofitted, but the 10-turrets stayed the same. But I can't tell you how proud I am that at least I had the right era. .

    Did you get a nice , old , real wood frame with it ? Back in the day it was common in the Army to get a group photo of the Company , Battery etc you were assigned to , maybe the Navy guys got a photo of the ship they were assigned to ?

    Yeah, you nailed it. I had the age of the Arizona wrong.

    And the boarding stations, at least that is what I think they are, are the four rectangular openings in the hull, midships, just below the main deck and pilothouse and two more aft.

    It looks like they have stowed boarding nets and rope ladders.
