This is the last rock band I got into before going full electronic dance music.. mid 2000s
Now dance music rules... it's just way better, way more energy than the old $#@!.
And way more advanced
Beginning of this video is really cool, but when the bass goes up (which is the whole point, and never really gets capture well by youtube videos), it gets groggly

With some occasional exceptions (eg., CCR, Bowie, et al.), I've pretty much stopped listening, as a regular thing, to anything but music composed before 1900 or so ...

Although don't count out some of the big band, jazz and swing composed from about 1900 to 1945 or so.
That was the last of the great composers that composed for music's sake alone.
Everything worthwhile past that was either movie music compositions, or quality rock band compositions, which of course, have been killed off by the verserficators.

Yes. That too. In fact, you can go ahead and include the Squirrel Nut Zippers and Brian Setzer as part of the "et al." in my first post. (I also enjoy some traditional Celtic/Irish/Scottish folk stuff.)
At any rate, the only music that truly deserves to be called genuinely beautiful is almost exclusively at least a century (and often centuries) old. And even the "et al." stuff that I really like (or even love, though I wouldn't call it "genuinely beautiful" - not like Bach & Co.) is, if you'll excuse my pidgin, muy passé. The latter is due (at least in part) to the fact that I'm getting old. But the former is just the sad and tragic truth ...

You cannot give Reputation to the same post twice.
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Anti Federalist again.
Here's the documentary Rick recommended:
EDIT: D'oh! AF already posted it. Oh, well ... so there'll be Bach to Bach posts of this video ... (if it is Baroque, don't fix it ...)

P.S. EDIT: Sorry for hijacking your thread about computers ruining rock music, AF ... (Looks like B4L is the only one who's been close to being on topic ...)

Computers are just a tool. It depends on how you use them. Did computers hurt the Who's rock? The internet does allow a lot of mediocre music get heard. (this was shot on a soundstage for the documentary "The Kids Are Alright." Last live perfomances with Keith Moon.
Well computers in general have ruined a lot of things.

This year I have started listening to a list of 100 best baroque (and before) compositions. Ive skipped the operas, but I'll take 1 a week and listen to it almost constantly. I'll take a breaks and listen to lots of other modern stuff, but I've really enjoyed it. The other day in the truck, switching through the channels, I landed on the classical music station and actually recognized a song.

First song I can remember hearing anything like "autotune" effects. First rock album I ever purchased.

This is music. There is a composition, there is melody, there is musicianship.
