US law enforcement officials blocked off the entrance of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington on Tuesday amid ongoing protests over the handling of the crisis in the Latin American country, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the embassy.
About 30 policemen with handcuffs arrived at the Venezuelan Embassy, which has been occupied by activists for more than two weeks, blocking the entrance from 30th Street.

A few thoughts:
1. If Guaido doesn't have the support of the army, and it looks like he doesn't at the moment, this will surely fail.
2. Monstrous as Maduro is, it's not clear that the opposition would be better; democratic socialism is no better than dictatorial socialism.
3. As an ethical matter, which side the people support is irrelevant; whichever side will govern most liberally should win, popular or otherwise.
4. If a foreign state were to intervene, so as to improve the outcome, that would be good (see above), though that isn't likely to happen.

Gen. Christopher Figuera, the chief of Venezuela's National Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN), has reportedly backed the attempted uprising against President Nicolas Maduro alongside two other senior generals, Argus Media reported April 30. In the meantime, security forces loyal to opposition leader Juan Guaido have seized multiple garrisons across the country.
New information suggests that the uprising against the Maduro government was more extensive than initial reports indicated. The backing of Figuera and other generals also seems to indicate that Venezuela's opposition has managed to create substantial cracks in the country's security forces. Figuera has also ordered his forces to support Guaido, which raises the likelihood of violent confrontations as long as the uprising endures.
