[Update: Failed] Full Text Of "Skinny" Obamacare Repeal Bill, Vote Expected After Midnight

With the Senate healthcare vote expected sometime between midnight and 2am, moments ago the full text of the Senate "Skinny" bill which may or may not pass, has been released. Here is the summary version of what is hereby known as the "The Health Care Freedom Act":

    • REPEAL THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE — Obamacare's individual mandate forced the American people to purchase insurance they frequently didn't want, couldn't afford or actually use. This plan permanently protects Americans from this onerous mandate.
    • REPEAL THE EMPLOYER MANDATE — Obamacare's employer mandate too often forced job creators to forgo hiring new workers or keep an employee's hours low. This anti-jobs mandate is repealed for eight years, which provides employers a greater incentive to hire more employees.
    • PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY TO STATES (1332 WAIVERS)— States can access additional flexibility to use waivers that exist in current law to provide more options for consumers to buy the health insurance they want. It also allows the Department of Health and Human Services to approve waivers faster.
    • INCREASE HSA CONTRIBUTIONS — Increase contribution limits to tax-free Health Savings Accounts for three years to help pay for out-of-pocket health costs and expensive prescription medications.
    • REPEAL THE MEDICAL DEVICE TAX — Both Democrats and Republicans have opposed this tax on medical innovation. The legislation repeals this tax for three years.
    • FUND COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS — Prioritize health funding for Community Health Centers across the country.

The full bill also includes a provision for defunding Planned Parenthood, which is the reason for the community health center language.

I like all these. I'm watching the senate debate. Crazy socialist Bernie Sanders saying they need to take this back to committees for hearings and $#@!. WE DON'T NEED HEARINGS, WE HAD ELECTIONS AND YOU LOST. More fearmongering and lies on this saying the bill strips healthcare from 16million people. FALSE, without the mandate people voluntarily choose not to purchase health insurance! Not a single democrat will agree with eliminating the mandate, and they want to go to committee to work out a compromise???? $#@! THAT! There will be no compromise on these basic values of freedom and individual responsibility.

Senators Lindsey Graham South Carolina, John McCain of Arizona and Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, all Republicans, simply demanded ironclad assurances from House leaders that the bill would not be enacted.

“I’m not going to vote for a bill that is terrible policy and horrible politics just because we have to get something done,” Mr. Graham said, calling the stripped-down bill a “disaster” and a “fraud” as a replacement for the health law.
Imagine that. Even a stripped down repeal is too much for the neocon RINOs.

    The skinny bill failed.

And John McCain gets one last opportunity to screw over America. Neoconned again.

As the clock ticked toward the final vote, which took place around 1:30 a.m., suspense built on the Senate floor. Mr. McCain was engaged in a lengthy, animated conversation with Vice President Mike Pence, who had come to the Capitol expecting to cast the tiebreaking vote for the bill. A few minutes later, when Mr. McCain ambled over to the Democratic side of the chamber, he was embraced by Senator Dianne Feinstein, Democrat of California. A little later Senator Amy Klobuchar, Democrat of Minnesota, put her arm around Mr. McCain.
    NYT

If there was a photo taken of McCain embracing Feinstein, that will be good cannon fodder for whoever opposes him in the next election. But then, maybe he knows this is his final curtain call and doesn't care. I think he just wanted to screw Trump one last time...

Here is the key point from this whole health care debacle:

You see how difficult it is to get 50% of congress to agree on the health decisions for the rest of the country. Even when they can muster 51%, that still leaves almost 1/2 of the population dissatisfied with the decision. That should tell you that government is in no position to make these decisions at all!

Individual wants and needs are so diverse, it is impossible to have enough information to meet them. Only the free market can do that.

Angry GRRRrrrrrrr... Go home you old b@st@rd!

    $#@!IN' MCAIN! That STUPID MOTHERFUCKER!

Sounds like he had been confiding in certain democrats beforehand, laughing about his whole "hilarious" plan to - not just screw us - but to hurt and shock us as well! "Durrr...Wait for the show!" What a self important, narcissistic $#@!!!!

And to think - within about four months - we'll all be on the hook to pay for some huge shindig-send-off for this turd! Everyone will be pretending that he's some admirable, much-loved, Goddam hero - deserving of all kinds of accolades and respect! Ugh! (One can just imagine the crap Lindsey Graham is planning! )

THEN, they'll also be a bunch of crap named after him! Buildings, ships, places, organizations, awards, laws, etc., - plaques with his name on them, allover the $#@!in country! And he knows it! They all know it!

He'll be lying in state with a million officials, plus clueless nobodies, all lined up and pretending that he's not the most thoughtless, America-damaging, stupid $#@! in the Republican senate! And it will all dominate the news cycle for God knows how long!

When the time comes, I hope decent conservatives can show just the polite amount of respect which is customary to all funerals. He deserves nothing more!

    -------------------------------------------
(Sorry if my language and all the exclamation points offend some, but the "mad" emoji is just not expressive enough to articulate the amount of disgust and anger I'm feeling towards this $#@!er. ...One day, I hope to design my own emojis, because one elses are good enough for me.)

This was all too reminiscent of his "run back to Washington" grandstanding during his Presidential run. All about getting the press.

(I have to wonder what happened to his buddy, Lindsey, on this one...)

The problem is they don't simultaneously repeal the part that FORCES insurance companies to insure already sick people.

Basically they just left the free stuff in the bill and took out the unpleasant stuff that was necessary to counter balance the free stuff. It's pure populist politics.

Though it would have been an incremental improvement, from what I understand, it's probably best that it didn't pass. Had it passed, most of the GOP (i.e. excl. people like Rand, who would have viewed it as only a first step) would have declared victory and moved on. Now, instead, everything's still on the table, for the future. Depending on what happens next fall, how many leftist GOPers get replaced with conservatives/libertarians, real reform may become possible.

    I imagine:

McCain: Lindsey, you go ahead and vote to make it look like you actually give a $#@!. I can't run again, so will protect you by being the one to cast the only vote needed to ruin everything! Teehee!

It is easy to be in opposition. People may dislike a particular program for different reasons. When you are in power you have to try to get everybody to agree on what to do instead of the old program. They tried to ram through the bill without any debate or discussion. "Here it is - vote on it!"

Trump never offered any leadership on the issue either- just left it to Congress while popping up an occasional tweet.

With one party in charge of the Presidency, the House, and the Senate, passing legislation should be easy. They are leaning it is not. Opposition is easy. Leadership is hard.

So, I'm not talking about this one vote, Zip. I'm talking about the whole debacle. Government has no place in determining the health care system of a free people. No place. They just need to enforce property rights and let the market work out the problems.

Oh, and this creates a dangerous presumption. That being in "power" means you get to decide how a free people care for their health. No. They do not have that power. And this debacle demonstrates why!

    Yeah, they do now...forever.

ACA will fail, as planned, and nationalized health care will be in place in less than ten years.

I don't think we have ten years as a cohesive country. Social security only has 5 years left before it starts sending out more funds than it takes in. These crooked socialists are on the ropes with the prize in sight. It couldn't happen to a nicer group of people.
