A$AP Rocky has received an outpouring of support following reports on his treatment in a Swedish jail following a physical altercation.
The #JusticeForRocky hashtag has surfaced on social media in recent days, with fans and celebrities rallying together to demand the chart-topping hip-hop artist be released.
Civil rights activist and media personality Rev. Al Sharpton is joining the fray in support of the Harlem-born lyricist.
On Wednesday, Sharpton met with Renee Black, A$AP Rocky’s mother, and other relatives of the men arrested in Stockholm on June 30, at his National Action Network corporate offices in New York.

Sweden has dismissed Donald Trump's demand to free US rapper A$AP Rocky.

It comes after the president sent a barrage of angry tweets ordering the country to free the rapper after he was charged with assault.
Sweden said that Mr Trump's tweets will not help free the rapper because the country's judicial system is independent from politics.

The Swedish government said that it had repeatedly told the US president that his interventions would not help. But Mr Trump continued to tweet, with his latest post including an angry outburst at the country.
Best known for his song "Praise the Lord", the 30-year-old performer, producer and model, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was detained about three weeks ago following a street altercation with two men in Stockholm on June 30. A$AP Rocky, who was charged on Thursday, will go on trial next week.

Trump, who last week urged Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven to free A$AP Rocky, fired off tweets on Thursday saying he was "very disappointed" in Lofven and demanding: "Treat Americans fairly!"

A$AP Rocky's mom believes the country of Sweden is trying to make an example of her son ... and there's very a good chance it's only because of the color of his skin.

Renee Black says she's run out of ideas to help get her son out of jail ... thinking President Trump's involvement would have been enough of a push to free Rocky. Renee has only spoken to Rocky one time since he was locked up earlier this month, but says he sounded strong.

While Renee tells our camera guy she doesn't want to pull the race card, it's hard for her to ignore the signs ... saying, "if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then it's a duck."
Swedish prosecutors have maintained the only reason they're holding A$AP is because they consider him a flight risk ... and have until Thursday to decide whether or not to charge him with assault.

This is my problem with street/vigilante justice. Rakim would argue that he is ignoring the kops and kourts and delivering his own form of justice to the people clearly harassing him. I like the courts because it is standardized therefore more predictable and dare I say it more just than street justice. Their lives were not in danger and the beat down was far exceeded the threat level.

That was just a light hearted comment ; 'yoots' related discussion are usually about climatic actions depictions to inspire passionate responses and not about nuanced narratives for broader understanding of behaviors, context building analysis etc.

As it was posted in US Politics section, was hoping this discussion would drift towards political aspects as there is some public tension between MAGA and Swedish leadership over this controversy.
In same spirit, perhaps 'Swedish diversity' you referred to could see some improvement if they get bold pro-diversity leadership like MAGA that America has been lucky to stumble on accidentally almost due to Iraq war fallout.

Rumors are that MAGA/FLOTUS may have been involved because Kim Kardashian ( widely respected as a champion of social diversity, liberal progressive social cuses ) lobbied White House for arrested rapper's release. As wH is involved now, Swedes will make sure that he is kept in good conditions while in detention. Apparently said rapper is dating Kardashion's sister.

I think we've got to agree to disagree on the street justice part. I don't entirely hate it but I prefer court justice to street justice any day.

People in Chicago have been fighting and killing each other for years now and they are all black. I think people from the same race, tribe, clan etc etc can still have quarrels with each other and also have lasting friendly relationships with each other. This would be also debunk narratives that MAGA is biased against Somali heritage Americans given his repeated calls on Sewden to free the Somali-American rapper asap. Fakenews media had tried to push such narratives after MAGA's controversy with another Somalian heritage American Ilhan Omar even though MAGA had cited her anti-Israel statements when he called on her to resign from Congress.
