    CA-Wants to tap the Mississippi

CA (and the West) are coming for your water. The time to secede is now if not for political reasons than to save the water you have. Because once L.A. gets a hold of it there's no turning back.

    https://www.latimes.com/opinion/stor...ater-pipleline

To the editor: The states near the Gulf of Mexico are often flooded with too much water, while the Southwest is suffering a long-term drought. It is time to think outside the box of rain. (“‘Unrecognizable.’ Lake Mead, a lifeline for water in Los Angeles and the West, tips toward crisis,” July 11)

Why not begin a grand national infrastructure project of building a water pipeline from those flooded states to the Southwest?

Specifically, start with a line from the Mississippi River to the Colorado River at Lake Powell, where a seven-state compact divvies up the water. Moreover, we need water in our dams for hydroelectric power as well as for drinking and irrigation, so we would power the Hoover, Glen Canyon and Parker dams.

The main pipeline would span about 1,000 miles from Jackson, Miss., along the southern borders of Colorado and Utah to Lake Powell, at an elevation of about 3,700 feet.

We're being governed ruled by a geriatric Alzheimer patient/puppet whose strings are being pulled by an elitist oligarchy who believe they can manage the world... imagine the utter maniacal, sociopathic hubris!

If there's going to be a new pipeline finish the one you started.

Let the environmental impact study begin! They should have that done by 2069 or so, if they don't realize the project is an environmental disaster long before then and scrap it like their twice around the moon "high speed" rail.

I shudder to think how much carbon will come out of all those pumps.

And if they build it, it'll spring leaks. All across Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle, where the farmers actually feed the world, not just supply it with boutique fruits and nuts.

And whine. Wait, that's California's big human resource. I meant wine. Which we also produce. Texas manages to produce nearly as many fruits and nuts as California, too.

California needs to get their damned minds off our water. If this keeps them from seceding, it'll cause us to.

The states near the Gulf of Mexico are often flooded with too much water
That's your scientific assessment, is it? You're an idiot. Flooding deposits nutritional silt, and drains down into the world's most vital water table. What doesn't keeps the Mississippi full enough to float the barges many parts of the world depend on to freaking eat, you woke, aware and generous hearted hypocrites.

They made sea salt trendy. Let them discover desalinization, and flood their own market. Or, they could learn to bathe in sea salt if they love it so much. Remind them it's a natural organic preservative.

You guys have "to much" sounds like your wasting water. The socialist are coming hard. You have "To much" and they get to decide what "that" amount is. We're screwed. Please I hope your state secedes, any one please do so other states can get the idea.

A Republic can stand. A democracy will fall. Two sheep discussing this wolf's water? Oh no.

Oklahoma and California already have a history, and water figured prominently in it. And they don't want to detour this up to Kansas or down to Texas, because they'll find the same attitude there.

There's a reason it's called the desert southwest.

Northern California and the Sierras are experiencing a drought. SoCal has always been a desert, and now it is full of people who waste water as if they lived in a rain forest.

And what was it, just a few years ago the snowpack at Mammoth was at record levels and the Oroville damn almost catastrophically failed due to heavy rains?

Ah, but they only have a few dams, because they don't believe in them.

What they do believe in is theft.

So this plan essentially involves pumping water up several thousand feet just so the resulting potential energy can then be (re)converted to kinetic, at a net loss (because, you know, the Laws of Thermodynamics and all that).

And let me guess: it will end up being those relatively soggy backwater/flyover states (and their neighbors) who will bear the greater part of the burden of actually maintaining and operating the system for storing up all that potential energy, while it will be the aquatically spendthrifty Angelinos - and assorted other west-coasters with decidedly non-red necks (except in the strictly literal sense) - who get to enjoy all the benefits of converting it back to kinetic.

    Gee, what a fantastic deal!

Holy $#@!. Follow the money. The bottom line is that Berkshire Hathaway wants taxpayers to pay to demolish it’s aging hydro electric dams so they don't have to pay to do it (or spend money on retrofitting).

And those hydro-electric dams aren’t “economically viable”? Bull$#@!. They are providing too much electricity too cheaply. They played this game in California decades ago with gas stations and refineries. They use “environmental concerns” as cover to eliminate competition, capture a market, and then squeeze.

Berkshire Hathaway and a few others want to shrink and control the electricity generation market.

It’s pure crony corporatism, pushed by the crony left.

The project on California’s second-largest river would be at the vanguard of a trend toward dam demolitions in the U.S. as the structures age and become less economically viable

See, the bill of goods will be sold that the unimaginable jobs that will be created for all those peoples in said flyover country. It's the same mantra that got the manpower and materials to build the Alaskan Pipeline over thousands of miles of frozen wasteland used only by Caribou. Also, CA has political clout and I'm sure we can buy off influence some of your politicians.

Has someone already answered why CA isn't funding and building desalination plants?

And the irony, the irony of wanting fully open borders (understanding this can be a point of contention within the libertarian realm) assuming no repercussions. If you can't feed and water the people you already have, how do you expect to do so for millions more you want across the border?

I'm sure the National Marine Sanctuary is a barrier to Desal Projects. See, its better that we save our environment (its worth saving) and grab resources from others to destroy theirs. Its the same agenda of our foreign policy overall. Better to have a war over "there" then to bring it here. I think of it as state imperialism within a bigger imperialistic machine. And here's another sell point. California is the worlds 8th largest economy so it really impacts the big brother empire if it falters and big brother empire isn't going to allow that. Additionally, California is pushing the overall Socialist left agenda and its expanding. This is a great opportunity to have a project across 7 states wrapped up in California politics through a water resource. Think of Colorado. But back to the point, Desal will destroy our scenic beaches. Same goes for offshore oil drilling.

Number 48. In the past decade, over 5 million people left California with only 3.9 million moving in. This has created a loss of over 1 million people, and a budget reduction of 26 billion in annual income.

And they are going somewhere and bringing their voting preferences with them.

You don't understand. The carbon belched by all those diesel pumps out in the middle of nowhere suddenly disappears when the water goes through the dam.

Hydroelectric is green. Full stop. How the water got above the dam is not to be considered, because it might confuse, then trigger, a prog.

Maybe they have plans to use electric pumps, supplied with power from the hydroelectric system. Then again, how about they just use electric tank trucks to move the water in the first place?

Then again, they could just pump the water back up to the top of the dam after it goes through the hydroelectric system.

I can think of one perpetual motion device that might work. Deploy pumps operated by the ever-wagging jaws of progs.

Theft happening as California enters its hottest stretch
As California enters its hottest and driest stretch of the year, which forces municipalities to increasingly restrict water use, the thefts are threatening to make a bad situation even more dire.
"As the state enters another potential drought emergency, we need to ensure that this new activity does not further exacerbate water scarcity," Barger said in a statement to CNN.
Officials say they are doing all they can to combat the issue by removing fire hydrants, securing key water sources and implementing greater enforcement to stop would-be thieves from making off with water.
