Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. Sometimes remakes and rearrangements work, sometimes they don’t. Those did not work.

The original is perfect, so it's hard to compete. The guitar melody right at the intro is key to the original song, so any version that removes that is incomplete. The guitar solo is a huge part of the song too. Despite the addition of strings, it is a fairly stripped down song.
So McCartney’s intro in that all-star version, with the ukulele and slightly altered, funky cadence, doesn't work. It works much better when the band kicks in and Clapton takes over on vocals.
