LA councilman wants mandate for vegan food at major venues

Councilman Paul Koretz wants to require vegan offerings at theaters, large entertainment venues, the zoo and airport restaurants.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles should require all movie theaters, large-scale entertainment venues, airport restaurants, zoo concession stands and some other locations in the city to provide at least one vegan protein option, a city councilman said Wednesday.
Councilman Paul Koretz introduced a motion referencing a number of studies that point to the negative impacts the meat and dairy industry has on the environment, including a University of Oxford study that found if more people in the United States adopted plant-based eating it could cut greenhouse- gas emissions from food sources by 70 percent.
"I want to make it easier for us to do better around the city, as well as provide more options for people who are already following a plant-based diet," Koretz said during a news conference at City Hall.
Koretz said the motion will need to be examined by the City Attorney's Office, but he believes the move would be legal.
"We have banned plastic bags in supermarkets, and we give out three billion fewer plastic bags, and it has dramatically impacted the cleanliness of our rivers and waterways," he said.
The motion specifically would direct various city departments to report on ways to make sure at least one vegan protein option is available at all concessionaire locations at city-operated venues, parks, the Los Angeles Zoo, Meals on Wheels programs, Los Angeles International Airport restaurants, movie theaters and large-scale entertainment venues.
The motion also would direct Los Angeles World Airports to report on the feasibility of having each terminal at LAX have at least one venue with a plant-based menu.
"Vegan eating is booming, but good laws like this do not come soon enough," said Ben Williamson, senior international media director for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. "Natural disasters such as the wildfires that this great city recently suffered are a terrible reminder that we must do more to protect our planet and its inhabitants. Animal agriculture is one of the most, if not they most, significant contributor to the world's very serous environmental problems."

Somebody should tell PETA that if they keep repeating that raising animals is bad for the environment, the government is going to wind up using "for the environment" as an excuse for dropping neutron bombs on someplace.

    I'm all for it.

The leftists, migrants and colored people of California voted themselves a UniParty, SuperMajority government of Progressives, Marxists and various hangers-on.

They wanted it and now they're gonna get it, good and hard.

Silliness like this is just the start.

California has reached the point where those who can't flee it should probably vote for the craziest psychos that run in the hopes of causing such chaos that the feds are allowed to step in and restore order.

PETA is trying to change idioms to more animal friendly terms.

Instead of "Kill two birds with one stone", they're suggesting "Feed two birds with one scone."

Don't forget "bring home the bacon" (bring home the bagels) and "put all your eggs in one basket" (put all your berries in a bowl).

PETA wants to criminalize these terms.

I bolded that statement because not because on its face, it's moronic (and deadly). But because this attitude is deadly. Anything and everything that is "good" now needs laws. Not just laws to prevent bad things. Laws to enforce "good" things.

    Couple questions...

    1. What branch guarantees this? Executive?

    2. What does this guarantee entail? That the BoR is not to be infringed upon? Anything else?

    3. The Constitution allows for secession. Does it allow for throwing states out?

It doesn't say, but because SCOTUS rules the land,(whether that was intended or not) if either the legislative or executive branches act on it SCOTUS will end up ruling on whether or not they had a right to.

    Definition of republic

1a(1) : a government having a chief of state who is not a monarch and who in modern times is usually a president
    (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

b(1) : a government in which supreme power resides in a body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by elected officers and representatives responsible to them and governing according to law
    (2) : a political unit (such as a nation) having such a form of government

    More at: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/republic

If the citizens of California can be determined to no longer have control of their supposed representatives due to a corrupted voting system and/or if it can be determined that California no longer follows the rule of law then California will no longer posses a Republican form of government.

It should, I have advocated for just that but I'm not sure whether it would take a Constitutional amendment or just an act of Congress, a mere act of Congress would naturally be challenged and SCOTUS would have to decide on its validity since there is no provision in the Constitution for expelling a state.

I gave up Pig and Cow meat a few years ago, I've eaten fish about 4 or 5 times in the same time frame, but I ain't giving up Chick-Fil-A for no one and I don't force others not to eat what they want. I'm Puerto Rican so other Puerto Ricans can't believe I don't eat Pig meat or use endless amounts of salt on everything.

I have heard that in CT a gas station that has air has to turn it on for free at a drivers request. I imagine that at some point an accident happened after someone didn't have a quarter to pay for air. Anyhow, if I owned a gas station, I would not have an air station. Look what happened to airline food. People used to complain about it and blame it for all their ill feelings. Simplest thing to do is stop serving food for free or at all.
