My sister did exactly this. Lived in it for about 6 months until she got an apartment last month for the winter. If you have any questions I could forward them to her.

I hate myself right now because my initial reaction was "I would totally drive that!" But on a side note, the following conversation actually happened. FOS = Friend Of Son

FOS: I got hit by a car!
    SON: OMG! Did it hurt?
FOS: No, it was a Prius.

The beauty of the set up is the peripherals being built-in
functioning solely off the electric (ac/heat/pumps/actuators/sensors)
instead of the electric merely assisting the gas as the main powerpoint
as the Honda & most all the other domestic/copycat hybrids do.
Toyota has had almost 20 yrs to figure this out.
Also interesting they stick w/ nickle hydride
    instead of Lithium.

Not sure what the beauty there is... It assists with mpg but is worse in every other way.

Also, the heat still comes from engine coolant. Those tiny little electric heaters don't do hardly anything.

If I were going to do something like what you are talking about (very small size), I'd use an Element as the basis for it.

nope... it won't work for 'climate control'.

When you turn the key to 'on' in the Priius... (leave in Park)
everything 'works'/functions and backs each other up... as battery 'drains'/recharges.
    not so w/ others.

    Why:
When you initially 'move' (aka turn to 'on' then put it into Drive..)
the Prius moves you with the electric motor. The gas engine later will kick in 'on demand'.
(the electric motor in the Prius is much bigger... and that is the reason.)

Not so with the 'others'.... completely the opposite.
You must start the gas engine, then drive, only then does it begin to 'swap' between systems.

    Dat's da beeuuttyy.

Lol. She's a bit shorter at 5'8". She pretty much did this exact same set up so I wonder if she used this video as a guide. She added a small camping port-o-potty which she could empty at any convenience store toilet. . A collapsing/easy pop up shower/changing tent. A black plastic camp shower. She has a double burner easy fit together stove and a roll out table. She just went places and stayed at friends and even new formed friends houses/yards. No camp fees.

This is the new, hip, compliant, politically sensitive, earth first VW, in the wake of the diesel cheating scandal.

6' 3" ? I always pictured GoldenEquity as a 5' 7" banker with a sweaty brow sitting at a wooden desk stacked with gold coins in a warm , dimly lit basement with crates of AR 15's stacked behind him .......

The concept 4 me is more of a weekend get-away vehicle.
Kind of a 'whereever you go, there you are' type thing..
a quiet place to lay my head that follows me.
Not fun to kick back and read my kindle in a 120F desert

The real why is that the gas engine in the Prius is not connected to the wheels in any way, which means that in order to achieve forward motion, there's many separate systems within the car that all have to work. It's not plug-chargeable, so your gas engine has to work. It can't feed power directly from the engine to the electric motors, so the two motor-generators have to work. The battery has to work. The electric motors on the wheels have to work. If any of that stops working, you don't have a car, you have a car-shaped shed.

Every single one of your accessories has a separate electric motor on it: A/C, power steering, water pump, starter, etc. Most of them must also be working in order to keep your car from becoming a shed.

With the 'others' the gas engine directly drives the wheels and your car will still continue to function as a car even if your hybrid system, for whatever reason, stops functioning.

If I were purchasing a decade-old vehicle to invest time and money into, and my plan was to use it as a camper, travel long distances in it, and live out of it, I know which of those two options I would pick...

With the rise of A.I. equipped vehicles it is only a matter of time before a country singer bemoans how his truck left him too.

Thank you for your informative post.
It lead me to search out multiple CAR COMPLAINT websites for the Prius and many other cars.

I have decided to invest in cases of single malt Scotch instead.

If I ever get the urge to buy ANY vehicle ever again...
I will just drink until it goes away
    and pretend I'm camping.
    Thanks again.
